Aquatic Wildlife

have not yet been as im busy with a few other things at home right now but soon as i can i will verify this. I know he has RO/DI Units there and i have been in the back so i didnt think he did this, but i myself would liek to know. I dont get RO from him as i have my own unit, just hope that he is not doing that to anyone here! or outside of here for that matter. I have been happy with all my fish purchases, and inverts. All the livestock, sand, even the tank i bought from him and was all a reasonable price. The fact that he is down the street from me I am always in there looking to see what i find that i might like, and so far no issues but again ive never gotten water from him.

Sorry I was not able to check TDS this weekend.

I recently got his RO/DI water from him in the beginning of Feb for my first tank and it worked well and have had no problems. My tank was cycled in 6 days and nothing popped up on the numerous water tests i did for the first week and even at a LFS nothing came and and still nothing has. So id like to say that he doesnt do it, but if it makes anyone warm and cozzy ill be headed up there this week to get some more water.

No offense to the store or you Saltaddict but why in the world would you drive all the way to manchester for water. Skip a couple water changes and the money you save on gas will buy the RO/DI unit for ya.

Tight budget and to see what's new in store plus my fiancé family lives up that way. It's more of a two bird 1 stone concept

I know its expensive but: Colchestet Pet also sells RODI water for $6/5g or saltwater with Red Sea Coral Pro for $8/5g. That may end up being about the amount you pay for gas plus water now...just figured I would share another spot. But just FYI: their salinity is low 1.021 which is where I thought reef salinity should be til I met ya'll....i thought the guy at Colchester Pet knew everythingggg just a year ago! TG for RC & CTARS especially. Lol but anyways....

Just came from this LFS. Was looking for ATI bulbs, but they don't carry them. Was a little annoyed, lol. The dude working there never even heard of them.

Not to surprising . If he is not a hobbyist and just works there he will only know of what they sell.

I don't expect any LFS employee to know anything about anything. Cuz they normally don't. Just an observation, lol ;)

Depends on the person that you talk to. There is one guy in there, ryan, he is pretty knowledgeable. They are able/willing to order most things upon request.

To set things straight, I was in the store today with my TDS meter, and things read nice and 0........ beautiful fish(Gian fish for deep pocket reefers), and i honestly did not see ick, and i looked hard. I straight up asked him too, Do you put TAP in your R/O water? dont lie to me man bc im here all the time and he was like nope come on back and look, and he didnt know i had TDS meter on me. Dipped it, and readings were zero, yes his prices are on the higher end of the spectrum when compared to Liveaquaria, and some of the other stores around here but for me its convenient since im down the road. By the time I drive to the other locations, and back home i spent a good amount of gas.

I encourage anyone to go in an speak with Derrick on one on one and he is very approachable. I always stop by to scan for some good stuff and bc im picky I usually dont walk out with anything, but he never bothers me when I ask if i can feed a fish im interested in and never rushes me to buy anything. I dont know thats just my opinion, but for a moment i was in a rage mode because i could not believe a store would do something like this. Again if you have questions dont be afraid to go in there and talk to him face to face. I just wanted to shed some light on this i guess bc seems like not many know about the place.

Hope that clears things up for some.

I want to echo what MADtanks said. I was in there this afternoon and the fish looked very nice. He even has a good sized Barbonius anthias...some really nice fish. And like said above...NO ICH!!!

Was in this store the other day. Derek is very nice and knows what hes talking about. Fish looked amazing. I would suggest people to visit his store and strike up a conversation with him. Chatted with him for like an hour and bought a few things and he threw me a discount. I will be going in there again.

Location may play a factor into higher prices as well. That spot isn't cheap it's off the highway near mcdonalds Starbucks and paneras lol prime time spot lol. At the end of the day it's a business first. It's not just selling fish for cheap to hobbyist for them that's their bread and butter and got kids and mortgages themselves. Think it's easy and you can do better open up your own shop in this economy and see for your self. I'm glad to have local shops still. Trust I miss PC. Milford and Stratford are great stores but man are they far
