Aquatronica

I have offended one of our greatest supporters. RobbyG. I said a few things I shouldn't have. When I re-read what I had said. I did sound really bad.

I apologize, RobbyG has helped a lot of us learn more about the Aquatronica. I took that for granted and didn't offer help when he needed it.

I think everyone can understand that with internet communication some wires are easily crossed. Add that to the fact that everyone is human and has bad days, and things can get messy quick. Hopefully we can put this behind us and work toward getting everyone happy with their Aquatronica.

Public apology is ballsy, hopefully RobbyG can appreciate that.

I do appreciate it, Thanks Ron, I think we both got a little heated. Lets just call it the past and move on.

No, the meter will have such a high resistance that it is not even noticable to the GFI. I use a voltmeter all the time on my tank just to check for stray voltage and boy is it hard to get rid of all the voltage. I have a ground probe in my sump yet my tank still has a small amount!! I know strange but I did some reading of Julian Sprungs new book and he talks about the voltage induced in the water by the Flourecent lamps, I suspect that is the cause. BTW if you really want to find out without a voltmeter, if you have a small cut on your finger at anytime, stick it in the tank and man you feel even the slightest leak.

If you took a Voltmeter and stuck one end on the ground and the other in the tank, would it not act as a grounding probe and trip the GFCI?

I wouldn't recommend that due to bacterial infections :p

I've never felt anything with my hands in the tank... but I would be curious to see what kind of readings I get from it.

I still think it would be cool to have a Voltmeter add-on for the Aquatronica. Should be super easy to do, and I think people would like to know the voltage their tank has at all times. (and an alarm when it gets high)

Just a quick question. I know there has been some issues with the probes from Aqutronica. How is everyones success with just regulare lab grade probes? I am thinking of buying lab grade probes and then just buying the interfaces.

Has anyone had a problem where any probe plugged in is recognized as a temperture probe?

If you've gotten through this, please post the exact method you used to resolve it.

Thanks,
Ed

I had a level sensor that thought it was a temp sensor. I unpluged the temp and the level reset the controller and pluged them back in one at a time.

"Elos" It's a nice unit, but without a USA dealer it may prove to be a big headache. I do like the open source code and it's webserver, but the display is a little dated.

Whats up James? Go over to the Elos sponsor forum and there is a thread with a translation of the Bio II. Its an incredible controller, maybe the most state of the art controllers out there. Its also priced accordingly.

No US dealer? Man, I better figure out what my job is now:)

LOL.

Ooops sorry , I didnt even know about this unit up to a few days ago, I just assumed there was no dealer.

BTW I really like your controller, is there an online manual for it?

Pysire tried it but had no luck. It did not seem to be a probe issue but no one is sure so that's why you did not get any replies.

If I can add my probe story, I have 2 pH probes. One is the AQT brand which reads .3 low. The other is from a previous controller by an RC sponsor, which calabrates well in 5 minutes and displays accurate values while connected to the AQT interface.

So my .02 says it is the probe.

No worries, I was just messing around. Since there is only one of these in the country, sitting at my house, there is no online manual at the moment. I actually have older firmware on mine so the manual that I have is even different than the new ones being shipped to me. I don't want to derail this thread so if you have any questions just email me directly or use the link Fliger gave to the Elos USA forum and I can answer any questions that you may have. Happy with my AQT but I am really into these controllers so I admire the features of yours, and wanted to learn a little more.

Interesting, maybe you should shoot off an email to WILL and let him know what brand it is. I don't think AO or AQT is really into the probe selling business, it's just something they have to supply with the controller, so maybe WILL might want to offer 3rd party probes if they prove to be more reliable. BTW personaly I still don't think there is an issue with the AQT probes because after reading that RC article on calibration fluid I realize that the coral life stuff most of us are using is junk.

I'm not super impressed by the Elos. Still has a serial connection to the computer and from what I see.. no webserver. Am I missing something?
