Some people have a higher tolerance for "grief" then others. I personally can't recommend the Aquatronica, way too much grief for my money.

TheMoneyPit - I would have never guessed that you wouldn't recommend the Aquatronica after your last 50 or so posts on the subject.
I agree that the Aquatronica has more "problems" or "issues" than other controllers on the market but in the long run, I dont think that I will need to ever buy another controller. Upgradable firmware so all the issue that it has can be fixed with a simple firmware update. Awesome customer support from AO. Improvements being made everyday on it! Love my Aquatronica!

no one who owns an aquatronica has had more problems with it then i have...
i have gone through 3 main units 9 powerstrips and many other probes....
All that said i still stand by the unit.. AO has done as much for me as any company could.. Unlike moneypits Elos or any other controller for that fact, in 5-10 years i will still have a state of the art controller. All the other people who buy neptunes, Elos, IKS etc will have to buy entire new units spending thousand of dollars again to get the "New" version 2, 3 or 4 of their same system.
Yes aqua has its problems as i have encountered almost all of them but if my ford f150 blows gasket or the power windows wont go up or down am i going to sell the truck? NO same here, so long as i am not having to spend any more money out of my pocket i will be happy to play with the contoller ...
Aquatronica has so many things in the works that no other contoller on the market can compete... if there is something that we like from another contoler like Elos SMS text control aqua can buld it into the system .. that is priceless.. let see any other contoller do upgrades like that.

If I bought a brand new ford truck and it blew a gasket and the power windows broke, and then they broke again, and again, and again, YES, I would return it. Life is too short to waste time on crappy ford trucks. Why put up with that kind of nonsense, you deserve better.

Their goal is certainly admirable, but there will always be a cost to being at the bleeding edge of technology. I just find it hard to believe that all these problems surfaced after the products were released. AO have been sensational in all of what I have read, but my purpose is not to find a product that will ensure that I explore the depths of customer service by the retailer.
If AT knew about the problems in development, then why did they release the product? And if they didn't know about the problems, then there is even more reason for concern because future additions and changes to the line will once again be beta tested by the paying public. I'm sorry, but I'm not signing up for R&D.

Opps had to edit my post, I thought it was Bebo who had flooded out all his equipment, it was Treg who had his AQ under 4" of water. Still a great story, all his equipment got flooded out and destroyed. To my amazement AO actually replaced all the equipment free of charge. Now if you can find any other dealer who will do that, please let me know.

actually the equipment never got wet.. it was a firmware problem and then another power bar would not turn plugs on and off via the aqua... yada yada yada AO took care of me
Dont get me wrong Money can make his tank run like the great barrrier reef or the island of Fiji but what does that mean to me? from what i read on his thread even jesse does not know what all those programing options actually do?
i was not looking for gold bells or diamond whistles in a controller.. i want a contoller to tell me what my tank is doing and turn plugs on and off accordingly the aqua does that...
i like things that the Elos can do dont get me wrong that is an awesome controller but the aqua can be upgraded... that is and option that is too cool to pass up on.
All controllers have stong and weak points... aqua is not a proven controller but that is because it is new, a lot of other controllers are on version 2 or 3 and thats great except if you bought version 1 then version 2 and then version 3.. now thats serious cash. give Aqua a couple of years and lets see what all she can do..
i know that Aqua is coming out with a portable contoller face. you can basically take the controller with you everywhere you go..no SMS email or other BS you have an actual portable "face".
Ron and i talked about all the things tha aqua is working on and some of the ideas are great... but as with anything new it takes time to get out the kinks...
As we talked about in the elos forum, all the new controllers (AQ, ACIII, Elos Biotopus II) are firmware upgradeable. That is what makes it nice. Now the problem is not wanting the new controllers when they come out, even though we can upgrade our current controllers
I am typing this reply on a powerbook that works perfectly but I am dying to get that new mac book pro for no other reason than it is "cooler". Because I am such a gear geek I end up rationalizing not upgrading and getting the new (fill in the blank) anyways, but it is nice to have the option and I am glad all these companies realized this. Don't worry Robby I'm not upset, I just had no idea what you were talking about. I hope the Elos is everything they claim it is and if it's not I'll be the first to complain (yes, I've been known to complain a little).
With the exception of Ethernet the others are already available on the Elos, and I should have a release date for the ethernet next week.
Would you wear the controller face on a belt clip or carry it in a man purse. Just what I need, one more thing to carry around. What if you leave it somewhere and some jackass starts pushing all the buttons, not the best idea I've heard today. I'm looking forward to seeing what Elos and AQ release at Interzoo, should be fun.

Yo Bebo sorry for changing my post, I think I changed it during the time you were typing yours. I did a search and realized that it was Treg who had all his equipment underwater. I still can't figure out how he got the controller and powerbar under 4" of water!
Moneypit do you have your SMS yet or is that a piece your still waiting for? If you do, do you have any pics of the screen on your phone while it is displaying info?
