aqueon 120 bracing issue

I have a aqueon that has a black plastic center brace. It throws this shadow out that I dont like much. No one else would probably notice it, but I do.

So, I just wanted to see if there is a way to brace the sides with a euro style type setup, and then cutout the center brace once the sides are cured. This will be done with the tank running.

thank you

No. The center divider prevents excessive bowing in the center.. Parts on the side will NOT prevent that..
Leave the brace.. get over it :)

If properly eurobraced (assuming the glass is thick enough) I would think it to be ok - but that's IF the glass is thick enough. The tank will have to be clean and dry for that, however.

You will need a complete tear down to convert it to euro bracing, should never be done while the tank is running.

Is this a glass or acrylic tank? Either way you can use pipe clamps to hold the tank together with water still in it while removing the center brace and replacing it with eurobraces. With glass I would give the silicone will take at least three weeks to cure for a structural bond before removing the pipe clamps, if the tank is acrylic you can remove the clamps after 24 hours.

all while scraping off the existing plastic with lots of stuff going into the tank, lots of banging, and you will have to clean it up using razorblades and chemicals. Do your fish a favor and forget the braces.

Another idea...thick acrylic can be laid over the existing center brace and attached with nylon screws. Then cut away the existing brace. You are left with a transparent brace. May want to utilize wood clamps while working this plan through

Yes that works, with risk, You will need longitudinal braces clamped together from the start until the adhesive has fully curred.
