Aragonite sand/rock in Jax?? I think so.

FWC does not have any restrictions on sand collection, but technically sand collection is controlled by the EPA. I don't think anyone really cares about the random buckets we take. Happy collecting and bring me some! lol

Mt James. Do you know who Martin Marietta distributes through in Ft Pierce? They do not have a distributor there listed on their web page.

Good for you man, I'm still afraid of JAWS!! But I do have a friend who has a big water boat. I did approach him about going out to get some sand. He didn't care as long as it was legal. Do you think the sand in the northern portions of the Gulf are just as good as those of the Atlantic??

achilles1: Sorry, I do not. Do some Googling as that is how I found my ifo. Don't take me the wrong way, my findings are based soley on internet findings. I still haven't made it to the Pensecola yard.

I've dove in the Gulf off of Clearwater/St. Pete area, and the sand offshore there looks like good tank sand.

The gulf has some areas well offshore that are an unbelievable sight. The middlegrounds is one of those places, it's a beautiful reef about 100 miles offshore....

I think I'll be doing this on one of the next trips, I'll post a thread of my "local tank" if I do it.

How deep is that reef?? When I think of a reef, I think of 10' - 20' of water. What corals and fish are on this reef??

Your tags are all goofed up.. It should go "quote b i" then at the end it should go "/i /b /quote" with each one in the brackets [].

I just got back from the Dames Point location. They have some sand from the "Islands". Really it looks like it is ground up lime stone. I am not going to use it.

Vinegar works but half of it is so fine that it would just make mud.
