Are all Damselfish mean as heck?

Some of them are very beautiful, but from my prior experience, they very mean towards other fish.

Are there any types that aren't mean?

Although I will not keep most of them, the yellow-tail blue has been just fine for me every time I've kept one. I also find the green chromis to be OK as well (is it considered a damsel?). Other than a Sohal Tang, large three stripe was the meanest fish I ever had.

yellow tail damsels are on the non aggressive size but they also stay fairly small. dominos, three stripes, jewels, Garibaldis...all grow much larger and become extremely territorial.

The genus Chrysiptera has the most mellow damsels, Talbots are the most peaceful I have kept. I currently keep a pair of parasema (yellowtail blue) and the male is really mellow, the female is not especially when she is guarding eggs.

Springer's damsels (Chrysiptera springeri) seem pretty nice, and they eat some flatworms. They also stay about 2 inches. My favorite damsels.

Think a trio of Azures or yellow tails would be ok as the last fish in a 57g? current stock is 1 coral beauty, corris wrasse and 2 true perc's

i had 3 black and white striped for many years they were aggressive when paired. I evict the couples and the one left i have had for ten years and is actually a great fish. Blue tails and another small blue damsel i have also have done well for me however i would not consider any of the other fish i keep delicate so keep that in mind

i had a yellow tail for nearly five years. he didn't turn mean till the last few months. i think he got too big for the tank.
he used to protect the new fish i put in the tank from curious tank mates. it was cute

my favorite was the blue velvet damsel. they are supposed to be aggressive but i never had an issue
