are astreas broadcast spawners?

I have noticed a few times lately a brownish stringy substance coming out of my rocks. just a couple minutes ago i watched it come out of an astrea. it floats up and dissipates in the current almost immediately. it's not the grey cylinder of poop that i find on the substrate so the only other thing i can think of it being is a 'release'. confirm? deny?

They are broadcast spawners. Usually though the reproductive stuff is milky white. I'm not sure though if one releases eggs ( possibly brown ) and another releases sperm. It could also be poop, just having a rough day. Worms in the rocks often spawn as well, and sometimes release clouds of poo and what no from their tunnel.

hmm. i just saw a video of stomatellas releasing into the water and the stuff i'm seeing looked a lot like that. maybe its them. i dunno. i do have a ton of baby stomas in the tank so i know they're breeding... i could have sworn i saw it coming right from an astrea earlier though.
