ok i haven't kept up with all the reading and it is time to change my MH bulbs. for the last 13 years i Have been using Hamilton 14K's..never with much growth but i like the color. are there better bulbs out there now the compare with there color but have better growth?
thanks jeff

I thjink for sure. you use SE? Radium 20K are alot better IMO. Way better par. nice white with hint of blue. XM 20 has better par also and look into the Reeflux 12K and Helio 20K

i remember i once got a hamilton 20,000K and it was goof blue...kinda hurt my eyes to look at it, are the radiums like that also?

I use 3 10k 250 m/h Hamiltons, after using them for a month they would not start, Hamilton sent out three new ones no problem with free shipping each way, and they are guaranteed for 1 year.

Great support and customer service.

I have used many different metal halide bulbs and I can say the Hamilton bulbs are top quality, good bulbs. I mainly use 10K and 14K and have been pleased with those from Hamilton.

I think Hamilton's are a good bulb.

However, a friend I consider to have considerable knowledge in the reef hobby says Hamilton bulbs are low quality.

But if you understand that all people have their opinions based on their beliefs and experiences then you might look beyond his opinion.

Frank,

For the past 7 years, I have used several MH bulbs. There are a lot of bulbs out there. Hamilton halide bulbs are high quality. I mainly use their 10K and 14K. Both of which I have had good experience with.

I have 175w hamilton 14ks....the color is good, but the par is crap. I get hardly no growth. When my 125g is setup, I'm going with 250w 20k XM's. The par on the 250w SE Hamilton 14k's is alot better. The 175's just flat out suck.
