Are salt mushrooms considered fungi?

Ok dumb question. Are salt water mushrooms/ recoridas fungus? My daughter is doing a school report on fungus and was wondering if they actually apply. Do you know of a good simple site that has info. on function of the mushroom, and how they eat and live?

They do not apply in any way. Ricordeas are animals. Corals are from the phylum Cnidaria which I guess is easily googled for the ungodly number of references you will be able to search through.

Don't read much if anything from a common name to the organism's phylogeny (evolutionary lineage/ancestry) compared to others. Mushroom corals and fungi are very far apart on the evolutionary tree. For the record, galaxia corals have nothing to do with galaxies either, war corals don't fight much, etc.
