are three dips enough?

are three dips of RO/Furan 2 enough to cure any fungus/infection that might be on zoos? I have dipped them twice so far, resting a day in between each... I had not seen any problems, i was just doing the dips mainly as precautionary....i was also dipping some new zoos. Do i need to keep them in QT longer than after the three dips? thanks.

I dip once with a harsh solution of lugols for about 15 mins and then blast them real good with the turkey baster, into the tank they go.

Personally i would not use furan unless you know for sure you have fungus on your zoos. I do a dip to get unwanted pests out, i dont buy closed up/sick looking zoos that might have fungus.

Nemo, You may want to watch them for a few days? If you don't see any improvement I would consider dipping them in lugols and ro/di. I am not sure you want to treat with F-2 due to the fact you are also killing the symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae algae. GOOD luck! JMO!

I dip with FWE/Lugols/RO for non sick zoas but Furan the closed ones.

Lugols worked for me too. I did 15 mins in it and swished the water around alot. Maybe move it in a area of higher flow? Use carbon as well

why is lugols any better than RO? don't both kill possible predators? what does lugols do for zoanthids besides get predators off?

I got ZOA pox on 2 colonies right now. I've dipped twice this week and will dip 1 more time, then let rest of a week.. if the issue continues will dip again... but they are in QT and taken out of main tank to reduce chance of pox spreading to other colonies and frags

Chances are its not any better than ro.
Lugols does nothing for zoos other than get prdators off IME.

I dip in saltwater from the tank, lugols and FWE. I have never used RO water to dip but thats just how i do it. I dont see the need to go and put them in freshwater to drive predators out, i rely on lugols, FWE and my turkey baster for that. I think fresh water is pretty harsh on a marine creature and adds extra stress, other people feel that lugols is a stressor more so than fresh water dipping them. Its all what you decide to do i guess and what you feel works the best.

I'm wondering how you came to the conclusion that Furan-2 kills the zoox? Are there any studies to show this?

I ask because i have not seen much in the way off loss of color on the zoas i dip. And i dip ALL new zoas in Furan-2.





nemo - IMO you would be better off keeping them in QT for a week or 2 so you can be certain nothing will be passed to your display tank.
