Are you using 454s or VHO Super Atinics on your SPS?

Guys just wanted to know what are you supplementing your MH with and how is the look compared to what SA does. Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

In my canopy I have 3 MH and 2 72" VHos. No room for more VhO. It was time to order new t12's so I wanted to see what I should buy

I'm in a similar situation...I have 2 60" actinic VHO's that need to be replaced. I'm considering going with 1 super actinic and 1 454. The more purple color of the 454 is supposed to give corals more flourescence and better coloration?...I'll find out. worst case scenario is I change out the 454 and go back to a super actinic if I don't like the look.

vho's

vho's

The first year of my 120 i ran 4 "454" Vho's (my tank photos) now im running 4 super actinics
I think the next time i will do two of each the supers give ya more of a "glo" green in color and mostly blue from the 454's. i run 2 250w 14k HQI's besides.

Can you post some full tank shots? I'd like to see them.

I was afraid you would ask this. Posting pictures of this quality is disgraceful compared to the standards people have set forth in this forum. I use a Sony Cybershot 6.0 megapixel and for the life of me, I can't get pictures to come out looking anything like they should. I've tried every setting on the thing. My tank is by no means comparable to most on this site, but it isn't as bad as it looks here either. Over the past eight months I have had to combat a bad alk spike and my tank temp getting over 90 degrees for who knows how long. It was a faulty heater and I was out of town at the time. Things have recovered and overall, very stable. I'm beginning to get the growth that I was lacking. I, too, ran radium 20k's for about 9 months, but off of Coralvue electronic ballasts, they didn't look like Radiums should. So, I have these reeflux 10k's because I'm trying to grow things out.

In regards to these two pics, the true color is somewhere in between the two shots. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I just have vhos, 1 454, and one 75.25, i switched from aquasun and superactinic, the corals are growing and looking better, and i think the 454 is verry close to a 20k imo.

You don't know? when your SPS keeping skills increases you must also increase the your photography skills , this means getting better cameras, expensive lens, and learning a heck of a lot about photography and post processing :)

Just kidding :) I think your pics looks just fine

I switched from 2 super actinics to 1 SA and 1 454 to brightn it up. I haven't really seen a huge difference in colorations in corals, but I go what I was looking for. I'll probably do the same setup next time
