well this hobby never gets boring..thats for sure...
something went terribly wrong..i did a water change on october 3rd...
and the next day i checked the tank about 95% of my sps Bleached.

the lesson to be learned:

ALLWAYS WASH YOUR CONTAINERS/WC PAILS BEFORE YOUR WATER CHANGE!

after a 30g water change and running carbon. things are looking like they are going to make it thank god but for a second i wanted to quit!

Man do I love a 60 cube! And yours is top notch, one of the better ones I have seen. Great rock work. Glad to hear things are looking toward a recovery. Keep on trucking.

Glad things didn't end in disaster!

The first thing that ran thruw my head was two years ....gone with a single water change. Honestly I cood not face it right when I saw it i had to leave and come back to it. When to bj's bought about 10gallons of vinegar and started to clean all my buckets and my big water changing garbage pale.

Checked Tds (was perfect)
Checked po4 (0.01)
Checked Tds inside the buckets it was something like 153ppm!!
Idk what it was but it was nasty.

But thank god a soon as I did a wc things started to open up

Oh wow, that looks like it could have been really bad. I wonder what was on buckets that caused the trouble?

Yes!! Idk what the he'll got in there but it almost cost me everything in my tank :headwally: thank god I had a brand new container of carbon Around.

I still don't know haven't figured it out. I have to ask my parents if they put something in it or if they used it for anything (I doubt it)

Thank you! After running carbon & two water changes my PE is back but some pieces like the photos above show are in bad shape.

I think in a few months the tank will be back to it's glory. Dont get me wrong I wanted to quit for a few minutes but I love this hobby too much to quit.

I will keep you guys posted with progress.

Tank looks great glad to hear you caught it in time and lok forward to pics once its settled back down!

Thanks

Most of the corals are regaining their colors allready which makes me very happy to see. A few montis took the worst beating but I see PE and that's allways a positive sign. I think by December/January things will be back to normal. Polyp exteansion is as if nothing ever happen and I see new growth on my millies all good signs . Just hoping things keep on progressing

You have a great looking tank. I hope everything recovers quickly. I'm going to be setting up a 60 cube myself soon. How do you like the stock overflow? I'm thinking of drilling mine myself.
Thanks.

Looks NICE. 1 of my favorite size tanks

thanks :fun4:

thank you very much,

the overflow has its positives and negatives so honestly it comes down to preference . I like that the over flow does not take up a lot of space inside the tank but it sucks that i have to deal with pipes behind the tank (the space between the wall & the tank). on the other hand If you have the tank drilled from the bottom you have to deal with the bulky over flow inside the tank. so the choice is up to you really, i know its not much help. i think this would be the perfect tank if it was drilled threw bottom with the current low profile overflow. HTH:lmao:
