Artemia Cultivation

Any suggestions as far as feeding the hatched brine.

I have had good success hatching the San Francisco Bay Brand Brine shrimp eggs.

I am interested in cultivating the Brine to the largest size possible. I have read a few articles online suggesting various foods and methods. I am currently feeding the hatched brine, baby food, sweet potatoe and peas, a few drops of Selcon for good measure and recently have been feeding phythoplankton as well. Seems like the phytho is speeding up there growth.

I read online as well that these creatures eat algae, and that placing the grow out container near a window does wonders.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

I've always had the best luck feeding Isochyris. It's got an excellent nutritional profile, from a fish culture standpoint, and the artemia grow quite well on it. Live phyto also has the benefit of not fouling the water like dead feeds will. In a pinch, dried brewers yeast also works well, but runs a high risk of fouling from overfeeding. Things like Selcon and asxanthin can also be added as a supplment a few hours before feeding to the critters your feeding the artemia too.

Thank you very much Bill for the information. I found a vendor online. Sounds like a great food indeed.Looking forward to trying it out.
