asm mini skimmer gate valve mod?

Hi all,

I purchased an ASM mini skimmer on craigslist, and I'm hearing about this gate valve mod. I searched on google, and I'm getting linked to an old asm site that is no longer in service.

Does anyone know how/have a link to instructions for this gate valve mod?

It's really just putting a gate valve on the skimmer outflow to more precisely control water level in the skimmer body. Doesn't much difference frankly - few of the ASM mods actually do.

Should I dump the asm for reef octopus? My only complaint is the pipe seems pretty loose hard to fine tune skimmer. If it were a gate valve I feel I could control it better
