asm or octopus skimmer

so, for the original question...get an octopus NW200. Out of the box it will hands down out produce any of the otherskimmers mentioned...not to mention the price. And modded it will outskim many skimmers that are hundreds more.

And this thread(along with the octopus mod threads) is exactly why I have one on its way!

Just remember you aren't getting the Octopus people have been successfully modding. You are getting the new lower capacity pump, which has little potential.

That I was not aware of, the pump change that is. I haven't made it through the 79 pages of octopus modding yet.

Sponsors are getting a lot of complaints that Octopus is using the same model numbers for a basically completly degraded skimmer. A lot of people are complaining.

you might be OK, check the impellor. If it has 3 needle wheels you're golden. If not send it back and tell them why.

what skimmer did you get?? For the price and build quality, it's still a good deal even uf you got a new pump.

BTW, some of the older OTP3000's had 2 NW's, some had 3. the real test is the diameter of them. I believe the new ones are only 1 7/8".

I have the NW200 coming. I am pretty handy and didnt see the point in spending another $180 for an already recirc'ed one. Plus I like to disassemble and make it "more better" :D

You'll be fine. really, $200 isn't bad even if all you use is the body...but I think you'll be fine.

It just sucks when a company makes a change to a good product and ruins it all to save themselves a couple of bucks.
