HELP!!!! My brand new G3 has fallen and can't get up!!!!

Got my G3 with recirc mod and feed pump om 1/20/06 and it has been running fine ever since.......that is until today. I turned off the surge protector to the skimmer so it wouldn't go crazy during a water change and when I turned it back on the feed pump worked fine but the Sedra 5000 wouldn't restart or even make a sound. I didn't drain my sump so the skimmer was submerged and off at all times. Took it off of the skimmer and checked it out and all appeared normal. Tried running it in the bathtub and again nothing. I took the venturi off and looked at the impeller and all was clean and fine with nothing inside except for the parts that were supposed to be and I could turn it with my hand. Why wont my pump restart, tell me it's something simple that I'm missing and not a bad pump. Oh yea and tell me what that something simple that I'm missing is.

has anyone tried the new mini?? Looking for a good skimmer for my 40 gal. and wanted to know if this was a reasonable skimmer.

what if it's not simple? then nobody would tell you anything.


try cleaning your pump out thoroughly, removing any calcium deposits using some vinegar.

I took it apart and looked at it and it was spotless, It's only been in salt water 3 weeks there are no calcium deposits or anything else to clean.

Did you actually remove the impeller assembly & disassemble it ??

when stops working..... I remove it ( the impeller asmb.) soak it in vinegar and take it apart.....shaft and all...it needs to spin free on the shaft

Yes I did and cleaned it real good the rubber gromets, the shaft, the impeller and its couple of parts. It looked spotless before and should be with only 3 weeks in the water. I ended up having to leave the impeller cover off and getting it going with my hand a couple of times before it would stay running. Kind of scares me for a 3 week old pump to be having a problem like that.

did you actually slide the shaft out of the impeller? And if you did ....did it go back in freely?

Yes.....and yes. I took it apart until I held only A white ceramic stick in my hands and yes it went back together easily.

why does my G2 go nuts and overflow when I cleaned my glass???

I have cleaned it before and it didn't happen?

Should I unplug it for a while after I clean the glass? Weird.

OK, I need to pick out a skimmer for my 37g and I need a little help. I'm looking at the G1X vs. the G2. At first I wanted to get this skimmer with the intention of upgrading. But in all honesty I won't upgrade my tank anytime soon more than likely so I just want whichever skimmer will be more than enough for my tank. I'm assuming either will be good. Also I only have an 11.5x11.75 inch area for my skimmer. The G1X would give me a little more room. Would the G2 be cutting it too close? Also, what depth do I need the water to run the skimmer in? Thanks.

Is a G1X good enough for a 45g breeder with 15g sump/fuge. It iwll mostly Zoas with a very low fish load maybe two or three small fish like a firefish and clowns?

i have an asm g4x skimmer and it is mass producing micro bubbles coming out of the riser pipe returning to my main tank. i think i have tried everything, what to do?. it is brand new is this normal? willl it go away on its own?

you have to have something to trap the bubbles in your sump

for exmaple: sponges or baffles
