ok, we will see, thanks

Make sure the venturi isn't blocked. Generally, you have to clean the hole with a drill bit to get rid of excess plastic, so it'll suck enough air.

Second, you're running it way too high. Crack it back so that the fine bubbles changing to larger bubbles are at the bottom of the cup.

A lot of my early "bad experiences" came from trying to run it too wet.

I have a G3 on order so I can join the club soon!

Question, I have a sump that has an opening in the baffles that is 13"x11", can I fit a G3 & pump into this size opening?

the riser tube is even with the bottom of the collection cup, is this the right place for it? i have raised the bar up and now it is pushing water higher but the bubbles seem to have diminshed

Here's my suggestion. Lower it. I have mine set much lower than that, the top of the riser is just above the seam where the skimmer body starts to taper in.

Set it there, and then don't touch it for 2 days. When you keep fiddling, it'll never get a chance to get working. It'll take a while to build up a good head of foam, but once it does it'll kick out a fair bit of thick crud.

This is what I've learned over the last 6 months of experimenting with my G2+ ... Patience and just leaving it the heck alone (and keeping your hands outta the tank) is the best medicine.

I think you hit my problem right on the head. I have gotten maybe a good day of skimming out of my skimmer since it was steup. I had my water level (the fine bubbles) almost half way up the neck. I dropped it down tonight and it is already producing a nice foam. It hasnt worked its way all the way up the neck, but it looks a lot more promising now. Thanks.

I discovered this quite by accident. It takes a good 12 hours or so, but once it gets going, you're laughing.

I always set it so that the fine bubbles are just barely out of sight. seems to work well for me.

i have a g4 and wanted to use a 9000 pump...it does not fit the same as the 5000
what should i do?

I had the same problem. I just used eggcreate's under the skimmer to raise it up to the right height. I heard of people using acrylic sheets too.

I have a 75 gallon sump and I was wanting a 12 inch depth because of the refugium. I guess I could set the skimmer up on eggcrate 4 inches and still run my baffels at 12 inches. Would this work? Jim

I have a G3 on my 110gal with a 30gal sump.....works great.......but if I had the room I would have gotten the G4 Plus......bigger is always better with skimmers
