For OZONE: Put a "T" on to the intake air hose on the skimmer.......Make sure it is Ozone safe Like PVDF...heres a link http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/category.asp?catalog_name=USPlastic&category_name=6915&Page=1
on one side of the "T" hook up the ozone generator.....leave the other side open.....with a red sea you will need an air pump.......make sure you use an air dryer....and USE AN ORP CONTROLLER !!!!!! DO NOT RUN OZONE WITH OUT ONE !!!!! you can nuke your tank !

Also, I was considering buying one from asmskimmer.com, where they have everything predrilled. It's going to cost $35 for collection cup drill and recirculation drill. But it's only 2 holes right? Would you guys recommend me going with asmskimmer or buying a G3 new from a RC member for about $225 and then buying the correct hole saws?

Bill and Elaine - why do you leave one end open? Won't the ozone escape? Thanks for the link too.

Adjust your air pump so that you cant smell any escaping......when the Ozone generator and air pump shut off Via the ORP controller the skimmer can still get air input from the open end of the T

The ozone will not escape. Put your finger over the intake air hose and feel the suction.

what is a goood orp controller to get?

I set my ozone up with a "t" like stated and I can smell ozone. Is it because my air pump maybe is pumping too much ? I have a red sea unit with the built in controller. I have the ozone set at 10 meg/h. I have my waste water dumping into a container filled with carbon. and also made a carbon cup for my collection cup. I still am smelling ozone . any suggestions?

Ok I got my g4 plus up and going today. Do I want to skim it in some freshwater first just to get it skimmed in. Also another question do I need to glue the pvc into the elbow that goes into the skimmer or not? I have it going in freshwater right now just to get everything connected. Also how high or low do you want your water level to be? Do you want it to be at the bottom of the collection cup or up a lil higher? Just a few questions I have as of right now. I have not done the gate valve mod on it yet but I am gonna as soon as I find a gate valve for it.

No glue, 8" is the best, 1" above but varies with different set ups.

Ok so if you have it one inch above the collection cup level do you have to lower the level when you empty the cup or not? I also forgot to mention that my tank is a bb tank. Anyone else got anymore suggestions on how to fine tune the skimmer? Also what do you use to control the amount of air coming in the skimmer?

when you empty the collection cup, just turn off the skimmer. Does regulating the air intake help? I suppose you can use an air gate valve, like those tiny blue ones they sell at LFS.

I have a question, I see some place that carry the ASM G4 skimmer with a Sedra 5000 and another one Sedra 9000.

Does it make that much of a difference to justify for a Sedra 9000, which uses more wattage?

Ok another queston, what exactly does the gate valve mod do? I have the pvc for it right now just need to find a gate valve for it.
