I went with option#2 on mine. Both GEO and Deltec have it set up with option #1.

Thank you ball valves will work ok?

No, ball valve is worst than no valve at all. It's hard to adjust the ball valve to the precised level you want tho.

I got it from McMaster-Carr. Link

Ok a little off topic. Since most of the folks in this forum ave a ASM skimmer here my question.

I am thnking of getting a G3 or G2 skimmer. I am just wondering if all those Mods are really needed. Shoot can't I just put the ASMG2 or 3 in my 72 with a 15 gallon sump and have it work just as well. If I do get one of those Mods, Which one would be the best or at least give me the best bang for my buck? I would have ASM do the work, I don't (unfortunately) have the time to do the work myself, plus I don't feel to confident doing it my self. Any suggestions out there???
Thank You,
Eric

can someone post something similar to above, but of b and e's mod?

The picture is kind of small but you get the idea. It's directly from Bill's post. B&E GVM

the post only shows what the part outside of the water looks like...? anyone know the entire setup look?

I'm also very interested in knowing the gate valve mod options for a G2...

1. Can the standard mod be used on a G2? ie: riser - GATE (vertically oriented) - T - 90

2. Can the B & E mod be used on a G2 without affecting performance? ie: riser - T- GATE (horizontally oriented) - 90
Also, with this config. what's the difference between a tall, open standpipe coming up from the 'T' verses a capped pipe?

For my sump setup the "gate valve alternate configuration" just won't fit.

Thanks

Should have posted this here first - my bad - I have a G4+ with the gate mod, just installed on a new setup. I get nothing but foam overflowing the cup. I am running a canister with phosban and carbon. Any experiences?

Thanks

I am trying to clean my pump but cannot get the impeller out. The magnet is pulling it back and I am scared to pull too hard, plus I cannot get a good grip with my fingers. I am thinking of using pliers but don't want to break anything. HOW DO YOU ALL REMOVE THE IMPELLER? Where do you grip it to pull it out and how much presure is OK...(sedra 5)

i'm not sure, but you might not need to pull the impeller out. you can run it in a vinegar / water solution, then take a pipe cleaner to get into the back areas. that's how I clean my current pumps.
