ASM G1X HELP!!!

Has anyone had any experience using flexible hose to connect the Sedra 3500 pump to the skimmer?

I am having a hard time fitting it into my sump and I was wondering if it will effect the performance?

I also plan on using the gate valve modification.

G4X Help

I have a G4X It has the Sedra 9000 with the Recirc Mod I want to add a 3500 to feed the Skimmer What size Uniseal do I need and what size drill bit would I use to add it to the Skimmer. What can I fill the hole with that I was going to use a MJ 1200 to feed skimmer Can the hole just be caped off?

Has anyone had any issues with the pump not starting up after plugging it back in? I have a sedra 5000, and it doesn't seem to have enough power to get the impellar going sometimes.

Any reason to replace the Sedra 5000 on a G3 with the Oceanrunner 2700? I've heard they are a bit quieter and draw less power. Thoughts?

I am interested in drilling out the venturi also. What size bit would you use?

If this increases performance I am ok with the noise, you can always make a muffler intake.

I am also experienced decrease in performance or skimate production after the rec and gate valve mods. It only managed pullin out 1/4 cup every two weeks via direct feed ~300 gal/hour. After reading the posts from ddboys, I am serious doubt it's contributed by the air restriction using ozone via T, I think the water level and return rate play vital roles in the performance. Please share your experience, in term of water hight inside the body with /without rec pump on.

I'm going to get the G4x for my new 180g. I think for now I will get the gate valve mod only. Who has the cheapest price. I was looking at asmskimmer.com. And one more ? is the only difference between the G4x and the G4 plus the size of the skimmer body?

You are correct as far the differences between the two skimmers, the G4 Plus is 24 inches tall, the G4x is 30 inches tall, they both use the Sedra 9000 pump.

How much clearance is needed to remove the collection cup from a g4+ skimmer. I have a 150 gallon tank and the stand has approximately 25 1/2 inches from bottom of sump to bottom of tank glass. Is 1 1/2 inches enough to remove the skimmer cup? I was thinking of modding the skimmer with a drain line to help out.

You need about 1/2 an inch to remove the cup.

A little help from ASM PROS

On my skimmer (G3 no mods.) The stream of water enters the skimmer body and seems to bubble up from just the one side. Do you think it would be more efficient if I inserted a tube into the inlet so that the water exited near the center of the skimmer body.

Also, I have only had my G3 up for 24 hours in a dry run on my new setup. I really dont see the amount of bubbles I thought I would. There is nothing to skim since it is only tap water, however it seems that I am not getting the fine bubbles, but only a stream that swirls to the top. I have seen some pictures of G3s in action and the body is totally filled with bubbles (skimming) to the point that you cant see through it. My unit does not perform near this level. I can easily see through the body while it operates.

I am running the sedra 5 K pump. Also, the pump is submerged but I ran a short tubing to my skimmer which sits on a shelf just above my water line in the sump.

1. Does the skimmer have a (break in)
2. Will a GV mod intensify the bubble production.
3. Inlest extension

fresh water doesn't skim well ,get the salt in yes, skimmer needs break in period- that amount of time changes from system to system, IMHO,most often less than a day but some say give it a week..
