ASM Skimmer Club!

I officially joined the club.......the g-4x has arrived. As said before this is a real beast! Should do well on my soon to be set-up 120 gallon. Plan on leaving it un-modified for awhile and see how it goes and add the gate valve and recirc if needed. MJ 1200 be OK for a recirc pump?

if im not mistaken, asmskimmer.com and marinesolutions.com are run by the same outfit.

the super value of the reef octopus and the price drop of the euro reefs might be killing asm sales. probably why ms are focusing just on ro's.

althouth reasonable, its just speculation on my part. if anyone knows anything else, please share.

actually that is a Deltec AP2602.

There is not one in the US. And I do believe it is a NW, not a downdraft.

seems like a monster of a skimmer. if you do have it how do you like it? is it worth it? i dont mind paying the extra if it means getting quality.

I have a g-6,was going to get a g-5 but the wife said to go for the g-6. I like the skimmer, i did the gate valve mod and i think anyone with the larger ASM's should do it,I also put larger venturi intake tubing on it, no reason just trying something diff. I think i am going to drill out my venturi's(hell why not). It is a monster,but skimm's very well and i have never adj. the gate valve.

I just got my G-4x with the recirc mod.
Went to try and put it together and realized the bottom hole is drilled 5/8" too low.
Anyone know a work around?

Where to purchase 1-1/4" Gate Valve in So.Cal?

I want to do the Gate Valve mod.

All the plumbing shops and home improvement stores have 1" or 1-1/2". I believe Spears may be the only mfg.

Where can I pick up a 1-1/4" gate valve socket ends in So. California? The LFS don't have them, only ball valves.

reef_doug, Do you have any Orchard Supply Hardware's near you? They carry all the common sizes of PVC gate valves. At lest all the one's near me do.

I just ordered a 1-1/4" gate valve, by mistake.
It's suppose to come in the mail Monday.
