Lol same exact problem with me. I used a white cable molding and cut it in 10 inch pieces, painted them black and glued them to the back of the rim. Then just ran the cables through it.

the powder was added about 6 months ago with the yellow at the same time. Had no issue beside the powder blue and only the powder blue breaking out in white dots. But about 3 weeks ago one of them if not both killed my yellow Eye Kole That I had for over a year.
