Assume AEFW gone?

Over the past year most all my SPS have died off from STN. I had some AEFW a couple years ago but got tired of basting and let nature take it course. The tank is mostly plating montipora now although I have a few acro looking like pieces that are doing fine including a garf bonsai. I'm assuming that because they're doing fine the AEFW are gone as they should have killed off these SPS too? They can't live without a food source right?

Can't imagine anything can live forever without a food source.
Maybe put another tasty test acro in there and see if they flock to it. If they're still in your tank they will find it.

No, they can't live without a food source.

If you had no acros in your tank for a couple months I'd say you're most likely aefw free. But it sounds like you still at least one, so I wouldn't be as confident.

A tasty test acro makes sense. I'd keep it on a frag plug or small piece of rubble or something so it can be easily removed for inspection. I'd check it every couple days for bite marks and eggs. If it went a month without being molested, you might be ok...
