And with my own eyes I see that if he runs it higher it would start lifting sand.

So is there an alternative? I have a 180 on the way and I just want to know if I really need the 6100

Thanx for the help

I have three friends with 180's and they all use 2 6100 Streams on multicontrollers pulsing between 30% and 100% power in tide mode. They also have 1000gph+ return pumps. Two of these guys use Aragonite sand- coarse 2-3mm. One has a DSB of Southdown. The guy with Southdown had a sand storm at first that subsided as the sandbed matured. If your friend has brand new sand and no rock I would expect this but after a couple months and with rock and corals in place it should not be an issue in a 180.

Thanx Roger.

So are you saying 2x6000 with the multicontroller would no be enough for the 180?

I would be using a return pump of 1000+ gallons as well.
