At what point do I force a move? RBTA

I have a RBTA I have had for about 3 weeks. When I first got it it had the full bubble tips but now has straight tentacles. I understand that's normal and I was not concerned It was eating silver sides and had stayed more or less in the area towards the top of the tank in the rock where I had put it getting direct light (Reef Radiance LED's). My tank is a year old and all corals and fish are thriving.

It's been moving around recently and has moved to the top corner of the tank on the glass for the last 2-3 days where it's getting almost no light. My lights don't cover the entire tank and it's almost coming out of the water.

I've done my research and I know its not encouraged to move it but it will certainly die in this spot over time; do I give it a few more days or try encouraging it to move? It's pretty far from any location where it would get enough light now at this point.

Thanks!

The safest way to move one is to point a powerhead at it. It'll get upset and move. I had to do that to mine when it decided to take up residency on the back of my rocks. He now resides in front near the sand, low flow area, for the past 4 months.

analyze where it moved to.

if it moved their on its own, it may be telling you something.

maybe it was in too bright of a spot? and is saying it needed a bit less light?

or it just got lost and gave up lol

Yea, it was pretty high up originally so it may have been too much light. I'm gonna give it another day or two to see if it moves.

AdamNC,

What's your thought with the recent RBTA I bought [Greensboro btw]. I have a rock ledge that I placed my RBTA... and it stayed there for about a day. I changed the water flow and it went up under a rock...changed, rather slowed the flow... and it reappeared behind the rock nonetheless. Would you suggest I leave be and hope the RBTA moves towards the front of my tank.... Or another piece of advice?
Curious what LFS in the W/S area would you recommend>

Thanks

Joey

I obtained two very large rbta's from another RC reefer. One stayed put once I placed in the tank. The other took to a deep cave. Fast forward five weeks.....this past saturday I couldn't take it anymore. I rearranged the aquascape and simply picked up the rock it was attached to and placed it right beside the other one. So far so good as it seems happy.

Everything I researched said not to move it but I'm glad I did. Both side by side when fully extended are about 20" in diameter.

Yet the clownfish prefer the corner by a small rock. Fml. Lol
