ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

It is a lot of light! However the light sits 8" above the water and the tank is 27.5 deep, with the highest acro being approx 14" from the light and the majority being approx 18-20" from the light and some being quite near the bottom, all sps including some maximas one being around 30" from the light!

I did just see your post about yours being higher. Sometimes I think I've got too much light and sometimes not enough, some acros are phenomenal in colour and a few are pale but I think that's more lack of nutrients.
I agree on the colors. I bet it's either nutrient or flow issue, but likely the former. This light packs a punch no matter where your corals are.

bucfan,

got the fixture raised up to 10" quite a change, it really took the overkill feeling out of the fixture. I am running the Led's at 50% and all 8 tubes for 4.5 hrs and 4 tubes for 7 hrs. its an all sps tank wondering if you think I needed to make some changes, I was trying to take it slow to acclimate the sps to the new light but I think by raising the fixture it took a lot of the punch out of the light.

I run 8 tubes 3 hours (1 pm to 4pm) and 4 tubes 8.5 hours (1130 am to 8 pm). LEDs turn on very dim at 7 am until 10 am then to 45% by 12 pm and stay on until 1030 pm then ramp back down. This schedule has thus far produced great SPS growth. If you PM me your email I can send you my light program to test.

Vince, your ATI fans are spinning CRAZY fast. There is a secret option to access FAN SPEED etc...I bet either someone messed around with the setting or it was somehow setup wrong at factory.

I wouldnt run the unit until its sorted out. The fans may burn out and then the unit could overheat!

I submited a ticket on ATI Support Portal.
Wait & See ;)

Does anyone know the actual dimensions of the fixture for the 48" 3x75W LED 8X54W T5 model? I can't find the dimensions anywhere online.

I'm wondering if two units will fit under my 8'x2'x1' canopy.

I got 2 brand new units yesterday and hung them up. Did not use the software but rather programmed the units with the onboard programming display. VERY easy and absolutely perfectly what I wanted. If only they had moon phase . . . ah well . . .

I used only 4 set points per channel. LEDs set to Blue Plus run from 8AM to 10PM and go from 0 to 100/255. They run at 100/255 from 13:00 to 14:00.

The T5's turn on at 10AM and off at 8PM and ramp from 0 to full in one hour so that leaves max power T5s running 11AM to 7PM.

Interesting the PAR as measured by my Apogee was virtually identical to my Giesmann MH fixtures modded with AI LEDs. I was seeing around 1000 at the surface and 200 in the far corners of the tank.

I must say in terms of making corals "look" their best this light is better than any other I have tried.

My last project will be to hook up the software and refine the LED settings so I get a little more shimmer. I tried changing to Aquablue Special on the LEDs and that does provide a decent shimmer so I think it's just a matter of adding 2 set points to adjust the color after the T5s turn on for a while.

Now can't wait to see if this makes a difference to my yellow corals as that really is the whole reason I'm trying this change . . . that and the fact Mr. Tryc uses an ATI fixture and I think he has the nicest corals in the world.

Here's a look at the modded Giesmemann's I'm replacing . . . anybody in the market for some awesome MH fixtures :D . . .

So anyone with the 24" model kind of wondering how the shimmer is with the LEDs? Trying to decide if it is really worth the extra cost to go this rout over just a normal 6 bulb Sunpower.

My favorite time to look at my tank is at night after dinner as I sit with a glass of Red Wine and talk to my wife. The LED Powermodule allows me to use Fauna Marin Ultra Royal Blue lamps along with LEDs to create what is for me the perfect dim light effect with shimmer and a slight glow on my corals. I find it very soothing.

How much is that shimmer worth? Depends on the individual. When I first started years ago I used T12 UVL Super Actinics connected to a dimmer to create the dawn/dusk. That lamp provided excellent "pop", but no shimmer and I loved it just the same.

Today, now that I have experienced the combination of soft blue T5 lighting with the shimmer of LEDs during dusk, I wouldn't go back.

Is it worth it? Totally depends on your preference. I don't think anyone can answer that question for you all they can do is tell you how THEY feel.

Sorry that's not more helpful, but I DO try :D

What T5s did you get , all ATI or FM as well?
Seems like no one carry FM tubes any longer?

Good luck with a new light i am sure you will love it

Your problem, thought, would be the power cords that stick out the long end. For you a Pac Sun Diuna would fit better and is virtually identical in terms of light.

How much does the cord stick out before it can be bent? If its more than an inch I agree it may be an issue.

You can buy Fauna Marin lamps directly from Europe. They get to my house in less than 5 days. Word I hear from my buddy Jason who knows the owner is that Fauna Marin will start supplying the US soon, but for now this is where I go . . .

Fauna Marin Ultra Royal Blue

As you may know my tank is square 48 x 48 so I have 2 ATI fixtures and 16 bulbs total. Right Now I'm running them like this:

Fauna Marin Ultra Royal Blue
Giesemann Super Actinic
ATI Coral +
ATI Purple +
ATI Aquablue Special
ATI Blue +
Giesemann Super Actinic
Fauna Marin Ultra Royal Blue

and then the same in reverse order.

Plus one.

Anyone knows where to get FM tubes.
Or if anyone even has them in stock.

Check the link above :D

It's more than an inch and definitely NOT bendable. Really though ask K. Tryc and he'll tell you a Diuna is every bit as good as an ATI LED Powermodule. In fact if I hadn't had a bad taste in my mouth from Pac Sun, I'd have bought a Diuna because it has lunar phase ability plus for you the cord is on the side.
