ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

I got a question for you guys.. Anyone regret switching from T5s only to the hybrid powermodule?
I'm about to buy and don't know which way to go...
2x75w with 4x38w hybrid or the 10 bulb powermodule
Thanx

I switched from LEDs to this fixture. It was the best move I think

Got mine today and after weeks of waiting not happy.

Build quality is as i expected but have a few issues.

It's an older unit so no clip and loses time when power is lost.
USB won't work unless i can get the driver.
On my middle LED channel none of the standard blue work.

I hope these problems will be resolved asap.

You need to download a software from atinorthamerica.com for the USB to work.

Hi Mavgi, Hi all,

this clip for the 8-bulb version is brand new. But dont worry. We will find a way to supply you that clip so you can install it. It is not a big thing. We just need some time to spread that clip to our dealers.

Thanks for your patience.

best regards
Oliver

Thanks Oliver

Hope to get it soon , I just don't like the way it's look especially when the T5 on the side (Chanel 1) is working for 1 to 2 hours I got a large sag about 1½" , and when it's working I see all the scratches that I have on the acrylic shield.

It's a new fixture that supplies scratches all over the shield and there is 2 dents on the reflector (but Greg from reef geek promised to swap them and I am not worried about that). As far as I understand they tested it here in ATI North America before they shipped it to the customer but I don't think they care or put attention for that and we get it with scratches on the shield's ... to bad .

Best Regards
Michael

Hi Mavgi,

yes, it is correct. They tested it before they shipped it to the customers. They do this to make sure that nothing happend during the first transport into the US.

But I guess it is better if the dont remove the film on the acrylic shield.

But dont worry. Reef Geek is know to have a great customer service and I am sure you will have a perfect Hybrid soon.

But I hope that you and your corals like the light.

Lol, now I know why I had a bulb in my fixture when I got it, but the film on acrylic sheet was still there.

Oliver, the pic wasn't showing and was setting my AV off so I changed the link for it so others who could not see it, could. :-)

I should say that both the local distributor and ATi in Germany have already been in contact with me through multiple emails trying to help me sort this out. I'm sure the problems will be fixed soon enough.

All has been sorted with some great help from the guys at Ati. Certainly at very nice piece of equipment and can't wait to see how the tanks fairs under ATi lights again.

I am glad they resolved your problem so quick, definitely great light fixture.

Has anyone used this unit to produce Moonlight and if yes does it do simple moonlight or a whole lunar cycle?

Thanks,

JP

Just a simple moon light, the programming is quite simple....maybe too simple compared to what the standard seems to be these days

I have a question. Been debating on these . I see some folks have been talking about ati software . What exactly this software do and also can these lights be controlled with its own software or I need an external controller for these like apex or reef keeper

With this software you can setup the light , time and also selecting different led/color to . on small fixture the T5 also can be dimming to . You don't need any controller , you download the software (free) and connect the controller to your laptop/pc with the USB adapter (supply with the fixture) and you can setup the light and configure color/time/power .

You can do it also (setup the light) from the controller to without to connect to the pc .

The only thing I don't like from the controller it's when the electric cut off the main clock (time) return back to 8:00 am and the controller not keep the time... so all programs/setup will not work correct . I am not sure if others have that to but on my controller when I take the electric off and turn it back again the time reset and I need to setup the time again.

Hi folks, I have ordered a ATI 24wX4 T5HO/LED hybrid for my 55g SPS tank. Currently, I am using GHL Matris and would like to try T5HO. Please advise your opinion the bulb combination.
Fyi, I am using full KZ system. Thanks in advance for your opinion.

Ok, here are my thoughts and extra info...

Initial impressions of the ATI Hybrid

I am one to not carry on about a new product that hasn't been proven or tested over time however I will simply say that so far this light unit is impressing me greatly. Time will tell if it continues to do so. I have written a few notes about my experience with this light unit so far.

Build Quality
As expected from German engineering... EXCELLENT!!

Functions
The functionality and programming ability of the light unit is extremely good. The unit can be programmed from the LED power supply or through a program that can be download from here. Install it on your computer, connect the LED power supply to your laptop (mine is vintage which runs windows XP), open up the program and bingo!!

I have the 8x80W + 4x75W Hybrid. There are two channels for the T5 bulbs. Channel 1 controls x4 bulbs (1,2,7 & 8) and channel 2 controls the other x4 bulbs (3,4,5 & 6). I have the dimmable Hybrid version so all bulbs can be fully controlled from 0-100% intensity at any time I choose. Each of the x4 LED clusters can be fully controlled, from intensity to colour representation. The program allows you to chose pre programmed colours that represent ATI bulbs (Blue +, Purple + etc) or you can customise each. This is achieved by adjusting the intensity of each of the 4 separate colour channels for each cluster of LEDs. The four colour channels are Red, Royal Blue, Blue and White. As you can imagine... it gives an exceptional amount of flexibility. I prefer to program it through the computer as it gives you a graphical representation.

Cooling fans
The cooling fans impress me as they run automatically when required and are triggered to operate by temperature sensors. Most importantly, I can't hear them at all due to my MP40W ES.

No more sag
The newer version of the Hybrid comes with a hole at each end of the unit to allow you to place a clip to stop the perspex from sagging due to heat, age and gravity. A most welcome addition.

Shimmer
I am pleased to say that this unit provides a shimmer effect with the use of LEDs. You can achieve a large shimmer effect by simply turning down the T5 intensity or vice versa if you only want a little. I personally little only a little shimmer.

Acclimatising the new lights
Besides the burning in of the T5 bulbs which I had already done, I went against protocol and ran the lights at full intensity from day one but of course monitored the corals closely. After 2 weeks, I have seen zero side effects, no burning of coral tips or bleaching of any sorts.

Evening shots

I have managed to take a few evening shots (something I find very hard to do).
This picture shows only the LEDs operating. Each cluster can be programmed to whatever appearance you choose: Blue Plus, Purple Plus, etc... It gives great flexibly.

In this picture, three of the four clusters of LEDs are at 2% intensity. The far right is at a higher intensity which is creating an awesome spot light effect. The scenarios you can create are endless. :bounce3:

PAR Readings

Some readings I took of the unit.

Programming the ATI Hybrid

A little more information plus a graphical representation of what I talked about above.

Hope it helps or answers some questions

Cheers
