Atlantic Tang Hiding

I recently decided to change the rockwork a littler bit to make proper space for corals. Before this change my tang had been very happy, very active swimmer, ate like a pig...but ever since this change it keeps hiding and is not eating as much as she use to...this has been going on for 3 days now.

Any ideas? is it stressed because of the sudden change in surrounding? its still a juvenile and i have had it for 4 months.

I checked the water quality and its as follows:

dkh 11
Calcium 440
Nitrate < 5
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
Ph 7.96 ~ 8.05 (even with reverse light cycle)
Phosphate 0
Salinity 32

Did you add any new fish?
If not, the tang should go back to his normal self in a few days, you probably changed his territory and he is just finding and securing a new one

Nope now new fish added. Just a clam.

I hope it's just the surroundings and she starts being more active.

I saw these small white patches on the tang...what are the related to? Stress?

Could be developing its adult coloration. The sudden change probably stressed it out. How big is your tank? By my understanding your pH is a bit low. Try soaking its food in some garlic to get it to start eating again maybe. Its very beautiful and hope it makes it. Good luck.

DT is 90 gallon tank...I am feeding her seaweed and food pallets with garlic extract for the time being. she is only 3-4 inches big right now and I really really like her.

I think I need to increase my ph too

Broccoli and nori sushi wrap is all your tangs need to stay healthy long term. They need lots of greens and fresh ones are best.

Sorry to go off subject, but where did you get your tang? I ordered mine from liveaquaria and it said it was going to be small so I was expecting it to be yellow. When I received it, it is almost all blue (adult colors) even though its maybe 1.5"

They will eat it raw but its way slow and gets caught in my closed loop. I warm it from freezing in a microwave and then slice it length wise. Its a little softe than raw. My guys love it and they eat a lot. The tangs and Angels need/like their greens to stay regular.
Here is a short video of them chowing down. There are several "feeding " videos posted there if you are so inclined. The fish have been together for 5 to 9 years and do well so it seems to work.

I live in Canada, I got from a local fish store here.

They get them quite often here...

The white patches don't look like ich to me. Ich looks like salt sprinkled all over the fish -- it's unmistakeable IMO. I would keep an eye on the fish for a few days to monitor behavior. Trying to catch the fish may induce unnecessary stress.

I was 50/50 on the ich myself so I guess I will just monitor it now. I am going to start feeding it some cyclop-eeze to see if it helps.

Agree that fish did not have any ich in the pic. Cyclopleeese please ? Greens greens greens They are tangs they need lots of greens. Really their feces should be the size of a baby's finger and disintegrate when they go. If they are long and stringy then you got a problem.

so how long do you microwave the broccoli?

just a couple of minutes, just enough to get it thawed out and a lil hot to the touch. Chop it length wise and cool it off with water through a coffee filter.Also hey love nori sushi wrap.
