Im just wondering what every one is using to hold their top off water in? I have reason to belive my container is leaching something into my water so im trying to figure out what I should use instead....

For years I have used this container... Its a 18g rubbermaid roughneck

I use a food grade 5 gal lexan container, I alway thought that those containers leak stuff, I had issues in the past, The water will enter fine, 5 days later I will show phosphates on the water.

al if you need one of the 55 barrels let me know they have them over at a shipping place not to far from us for $40 brand new with a removable top

i use a 20xh tank

ive got a 55g drum with a float valve if your going big, would take 30$

also have 3-50g bags of salt of io, (saw ur other post), for 25

I didnt mention it before but the container is going on the side of my house in plain view as soon as you pull in the driveway so it cant be big or ugly lol

Ive been using that exact container for close to 2 years. No issues but ill keep an eye on it.

Ive been using it for more like 3 years but yesterday I got a TDS reading of 599!!! I keep the container outside and it gets pretty hot during the afternoon, not sure if that made the differance.

Al- Inside vs outside, I dont know. Algae maybe?? Mine is inside, under AC.

IMHO something else is going on. Its pretty easy to check though.

Clean container well, very well. Measure incoming water into that container. Leave standing for a few days, TDS should not change. Im no water expert but "total dissolved solids" as a leaching agent from a container??? Not sure how feasable that is.

I thought you where using Kalk for you ATO, if you are, my Kalk TDS is >888

I think inside vs outside does makes a difference, mine was outside too, Wasn't there some issue with plastic water bottles leaching some harmful substances?
