ATO Question

Or is it?
Hi RC.
I have a Smart ATO on a tank and have placed the sensor on the waterline in the pumps chamber. All of the other levels were at where they need to be; the baffle just before the pump, the skimmer outside water lever 7.5inches , and tank water was mid way up the overflow teeth. The 10 gal reservoir was half full.
When I looked in this morning, the water was up over the overflow teeth to just below the ED. The tank pump was sucking some air and the reservoir was dry to its pump. The other 2 chambers in the sump were ok.
Can someone lease help me to figure this out?

Did you check to make sure both drains were clear of obstruction? That's the first thing that comes to my mind, but I'm sure more experienced people will chime in.

Doesn't sound like an ATO problem, sounds like your main drain isn't keeping up with the pump for some reason. Snail in the stand pipe perhaps?

There is nothing in the tank but LR.
There is maybe one restriction and that would be a sock which i have removed along with about 2.5 gals of water. Now to see if that helps.

So here is what caused my fiasco. I replumbed the return last fall and changed the pipe from 3/4 inch to 1 inch pipe. That made a big difference in the tanks flow balance. It is working fine now that the 1 inch pipe has been converted essentially a 3/4 inch again with a turn of a ball valve.
