FB, Once your clowns have made it through Metamorphysis it is surprising easy to keep different batches together in the same grow out system. I have kept four different batches of baby Percs together for about 4 months now with no ill effects. It is kinda funny because baby Percs are aggressive like Maroons are. However my babies seem to only pic on tank mates of approximately the same size. I was worried that the large ones would pic on the small ones and that has just not been the case at all. Small ones scrap with other small ones and the big babies spar with other big babies. They leave the small tank mates alone. Go figure?

Yes I have noticed that the more clowns you have the less aggression there is. I have only mixed two batchs at a time.

Everything in the new tank is very stable now, certainly much more stable than in the old 30. They were due to lay eggs last friday and nothing as of yet. The female is not currently carrying eggs, however her oviposter is still exposed. I am feeding well and again have them on a set lighting cycle which was the exact same as before. The clowns eye has all but cleared up.

Here is what I currently have on the go.

10 Gallon with around 70 at ~ 3-4 months.
10 Gallon with around 200 at ~ 2-3 months.
5 gallon with around 60 at ~ 1-2 months.
5 gallon with around 200-300 at 13 days. I think this is my largest number still alive at this time. A couple have 2 stripes, many with full head band and others still not through MET yet. I am still adding rotifers every other day and BBS twice a day.

I am leaving for 9 days vacation on Friday. With many eating pellet food and the youngers still on BBS I don't see why my fish sitter should have any problems. I have setup my BS hatchery to be as simple as possible. I have a medical spoon to add the eggs with so no guessing on how many BS eggs to add each day. My only concern will be 1 feeding/day instead of 2 for the younger batch.

The two other clowns that I bought recently have been living in my sump on no fixed lighting schedule and they keep moving among my baffles. For some reason they like it a lot more in my return section than the refugium so I have just left them there. When I get back from holidays it's my goal to get my 65 gallon split into two compartments one for the Occelaris and one for the Maroon pair. Hopefully when I return I will find some eggs awaiting me.

I found out a little more on registering a business. It's not really all that expensive so I might go ahead and do that. I was also considering setting up a small frag system and possibly a website to sell them.

Great job FB you have lots on the go. I hope you enjoy your holiday. Does your fish sitter have someone they can call if there is a problem?

I've actually hired the owner of the store I am selling the fish too. I will leave him my cell number and another number I can be reached at. He is more than knowledgable in taking care of fish, so I hope he can take care of anything that comes up.

It sounds like he should have everything under control. Its good to know that someone who knows what they are doing is looking after your fish.

FB; at least you have someone that has some fish experience to help out; with that many little ones in some of those tanks how often are you having to do water changes, etc.

Hope you enjoy your vacation.

AHHHH - What are water changes. I really haven't done any. OK maybe 1 or 2. The tanks stay relatively clean. Last time I checked my nitrates were below 20.

Back from a busy but nice vacation.

Vacation did not start out to well. My hired fish sitter didn't show up on Friday as promised. He said he would be here between 9:30 and 10:00. We were supposed to leave around 12:00. At around 11:30 I started to panic and called the store but their was no answer. I started calling people who had previously watched the tank but again lucked out. My wife has a friend who works near our house so she called her up and asked if she would be able to do it. She was able to come at 12:30 so I could show her what to do. I had made a notes list up and she took notes as I walked here through all my tanks. As we were about to leave I got a phone call from the fish sitter who didn't show apologizing. I told him I had to find somebody else. He said he could help her if she had any problems just call him. He gave me a story not sure if I believe it, but it dosen't really matter. I got home today and all my babies are alive and well. She managed the BBS feedings amazingly. She is refusing to take money but I am going to buy her a BIG gift card as thanks. Without her I would have had to cancel my vacation.

Anyway I came home an had a small batch of eggs on the tile, maybe 300. Some look a little silver but not a lot so probably hatch tomorrow night, although I'm not really ready for them.

More later.

Awesome FB. She really saved your bacon. Your not ready? What do you need?

Forty hours in one day! LOL

I can't really tell, but they may hatch tonight. I'm probably going to let these go by.

One of my Phyto's crashed, my rots have been clear for several days I bet. I didn't want to trouble her with all the other stuff, as you said she saved my bacon.

To tell you the truth, I have no idea.

I have one 5 gallon tank with about 70 clowns in it. It is about 6 weeks old. I have yet to do any real water changes. I scraped the sides and siphoned the bottom once about 5% water change. It has no sponge filter in it and the ammonia level stayed at zero from day 1. The only times I have ever had problems was when I was doing water changes. My water remains crystal clear. The tank walls turn very green. I am embarrased to say it but it seems to be working for me.

I'm coming to Toronto tomorrow. I can bring a 5g rotifer culture with me if you need it. I fed the culture today so its ready to go. I should be able to spare a bottle phyto if you need it as well. I only have 40 from my last hatch so I have plenty of food and not alot of mouths to feed. Lmk.

Thanks very much for the offer but I have a crap load of stuff to do and the nest is pretty small. If they don't hatch tonight I may attempt them tomorrow. I fed my rotifers tonight. I will see what I am left with.

All the eggs hatched into the display tank last night. I had no time to get everything ready last night. I was not really expecting eggs anyway, it's just good to know they are back on schedule. I will be ready for the next batch.

My pair just laid down a fairly large patch of eggs about 20 minutes ago. My rotifers water still have not cleared but is getting lighter. I should be good and ready for the next batch.

I'm starting to get to the point where I am wondering if I can actually sell all of them. I must have 6 or 7 hundred on the go at various stages. Time to start hitting up the other fish stores in my area.

Neither of my other 2 pairs have laid any eggs as of yet. The maroons never have to my knowledge so I'm not really counting on them anytime soon. The other pair I got wouldn't stay in my refugium in my sump they kept going to the return section so I just left them there. I really need to get something better setup for these two pairs.
