If you can cancel the rotifers I can give you some rotifers and instant algae to get you started. The best deal on the instant aldae is the 1L high density. PM me it you want the rotifers. I am located in Berkeley - right where 290 and 294 intersect.

You have plenty of time for the rotifers. I bought some of Reed's rotifers and some Rotifer diet and was able to harvest within a couple days.

Good luck sullyman

My clowns laid down a fairly nice patch of eggs a couple of days late yesterday. Going to try and pick up some rots on Saturday. But with the new baby not much is getting done. I had a 100% mortality on the last batch. Hopefully I can get things back up and running again.

My clowns are just not growing in two of my tanks. The tanks look identical too a month ago when looking at fish size. Can overcrowding cause this to happen. I have all the tanks and lumber to build my system I just need more time in a day.

A little update.

Finally got one stand built and put all together. Drilled three tanks and got the bulkheads on. Plumbing still needs to be started and completed. So for now they are running individual heaters and air lines. Not the best but it will have to do.

Here is a pic.

I picked up 3 new pairs of occelaris from a breeder getting out of the hobby along with three tanks and six pots.

I have two growout tanks currently running but as soon as the system is up and running I will be adding more.

Tank 1 - Younger tank

I also bought a bottle of nano from reeds off the guy. I currently have no rotifers running and will be out of town next week so I'm not going to restart them until I get back. I have not hatched a batch of eggs in a while as I am far to busy with the new baby. I'm mainly going to be concentrated on getting my new clowns back into spawning condition.

Looking good FB. How come you don't fill your tanks? I don't see any filters are you running magic water again? :)

ROFL ! Everybody knows the ceramic pots house beneficial bacteria, so there's no need for filters ! :D

LOL

The tanks are not competely full as I am waiting to get the plumping hooked up. I did turn all the bulkheads up to fill them just have not had much time yet!

No magic water yet, I'm saving that for later.

I didn't know that so not quite everybody lol. I wouldn't have thought they would hold enough. So what do you pot guys do on hatch night? Pull the whole pot?

That's my understanding, I'm new to this pot thing however.

puff, puff, pass. Sorry couldn't resist.

LOL :lolspin:

FB- I envy you! I wish I had the room to do a setup like that!

Well the stupid monster reared its ugly head this afternoon. I had a maxi-jet in the one tank to keep the oxygen levels up. I always unplug it to feed as it blows the food around to much. Well I forgot to plug it back in and now I have 250 dead clowns. STUPID STUPID STUPID. They were the older bunch too. 25% were at sellable size.

I remember Rod losing fish the same way, sorry to hear it happened.
I'm going to pull my 2nd nest tonight, lost all from the 1st one last week, may not hatch til tomorrow evening but with my luck.
FB, I had a glass uv shield blow on a 250de mh light last Weds evening, I didn't find it until the next evening. I'm watching my sps that were under it bleach. I normally check the tanks a million times a day but have been having back problems so those corals got a good 7-8 hours with no sun screen.
I do have a question too, do you add phyto to the larvae tank with the rotifers or just the rots?

That sucks.

Definately add phyto. It helps keep the larvae off the sides of the tank and also keeps the rots nutritous the whole time. Plus depending on you larvae density your rots may actually multiply in the tank. I've heard it can also help with nutrients.

I'm sorry to hear that FB. Do you have a sponge filter or anything else in there too or just the Maxijet?

Nope just the maxi-jet. Hence the problem. Their was no flow left at all. They probably died in 20 minutes. Like I said it was stupid.

Oh well live and learn.

I just want to get this system running. But I have NO time right now and I am leaving for a week again on Sunday.
