Just thought I'd pass the word along to anyone that didnt hear that Keiths closing the doors at Creative Aquatics in Owensboro, I just heard the sad news a few minutes ago from Keith himself that theres only a few weeks left before the store is completely closed so might want to get in there to pick up anything youve had your eye on:sad1:
 
Yea, I had herad it also this weekend but wanted to confirm it with him before I posted anything. I meant to call him tonight. I guess it really is true. He told me at the frag swap, I guess I was just hoping he changed his mind. It will be a sad day indeed when he finally closes down. Mark
 
Man. Reef stores are dropping like flies around here. Hopefully Dan stays in business. His fish prices are fairly competitive. If he goes under...that pretty much leaves pet food center and Aquarium Concepts. Though, pet food center's only real problem is ich, which is easy enough to treat in my QT tank. I haven't actually been to aquarium concepts since I started reefinig last year...I might check them out tomorrow. I know their selection of SW is fairly small, but their FW stuff always seemed good.

Is creative aquatics planning on running any sort of going out of business sale?
 
hopefully i can make it in to Creative Aquatics before they close. Keith has been very nice and helpful to me. I'd hate to not have the chance to personally thank him for having his business around. I don't think I've ever seen a better priced store. I was just talking to someone today about how nice it was that Owensboro has a true 'FISH' store and how sad it is that Lexington doesn't.
 
He said next weekend hes starting with 20% off then go from there after the nicer things are gone I hate to see the store go real bummer it was nice being able to order what you want and not paying the shipping and having a nice selection
 
Anyone know what he sells yellow tangs for? I lost mine to ich a few weeks ago, and I'm wanting a replacement.
 
This is another unfortunate example of a sign of the times.... The economy and of course the internet have carved deeply into the ole aquarium biz "pie"... Funny thing is, LFS's and internet stores are dependent on each other for survival (how ironic the symbiosis)... LFS's attract new hobbyists from out of the general crowd of people passing by a store, get into the hobby, sometimes they order online, and sometimes they don't... Without that fish store "in plain sight", the internet companies will suffer loss of profits thru less people being attracted to the hobby. Without internet companies, fewer people would be in business and thus fewer people would be attracted to the hobby as well. I always hate hearing about a really good fish store closing down :( Sometimes only to be replaced by some inferior service/ poor quality big-box type pet store...
 
I know there is no big box store that can come anywhere near what Keith offered. He was one of the best stores I have ever seen. It is a shame.
 
We don't even have a big box store here that carries marine fish. Though, I think our Petsmart could actually do a decent job of it if they'd just try. Their FW selection is awesome, they are always in great health too.
 
anyone know who to contact about the tristate site ive tried to register and never get the confirmation email thanks for any help in advance
 
Yea ive tried several times and it keeps saying incorrect password and when I try to resend activation email I never get it. Do you know who the admin is?

Don't know whats up, I am an admin, but I don't know about the registering. I will get John on it, he is the one who is taking care of that for us. Sorry, I will get on it tonight. Mark
 
I think Dan will do will take fish and split the sale price as long as they are healthy. I'm sorry to hear that we are losing another brick and mortar lfs, but I guess this isn't the only lfs that tried to cut Dan's throat on prices and failed add them to the list. As far as everybody that likes to bash Dan are you still going to goto wow and get your water tested weekly for free?? Or are you going to still ask Dan for advice? Or are you gonna take all these issues to your online shopping cart for answers..... So everybody that is trashing Dan about this and that realize that he has a sick wife at home that is his first priority and the store comes 2nd but if there is an emergency he has always been there to help he has helped me late hours of the day and there were plenty he helped after the tornado a few years back. So eat your words and respect Dan for all he has done to help all of us.
 
I think we've beaten that WOW issue to death here, and it's starting to build hard feelings. This club is in its infancy, and we don't need any fighting. Dan has a good store, with very competitive prices on fish from what I've seen, even compared to online stores.

True, he's not perfect but no one is. His prices on LR and coral are high, but the man's got a monopoly in the area now. He could do us so much worse if he wanted.

As big as a bone of contention as this has been, I think we should possibly put something in our club rules barring excessive negativity towards our LFS's.
