For those that dose acro power or fuel, etc. how often are you dosing? Daily, weekly???

Thanks in advance!

150 gallons, 1cap AcroPower every day. Probably too much. :). 2 caps a day I had significant cyano and brown snot here and there.

To answer your question follow the directions. With that said I stopped dosing acro power because of the increase in algae. I still have a full bottle if you want i can send you.

1 inner cap a week of Fuel. Seems to help a lot on the polyp extension in my tank. I have noticed that I have to use the magnet on the front glass about every 3-4 days as compared to once a week like I used to before using Fuel.

Any chance you read any of the reef chemists' views on the matter? From what I understand the amount to dose (if any) is more based on what you feed the tank already. If you already feed your corals directly you probably don't need to dose amino acids as you'll get what you need from the feedings. I think dosing amino acids may be more appropriate for those that don't directly feed corals and probably run a more ULNS type tank.

Yup.

Here are a couple of articles:

1. General info on coral feeding: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2013/12/aafeature

2. Article in relation to AA specifically: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2014/3/corals

I would rather feed my fish well, and that seems to take care of any needs my SPS has. Nothing wrong with feeding aminos, but if you know what amino acids are to corals, unless you are providing either a necessary AA that they do not normally get or cannot synthesize themselves, you aren't going to see anything except maybe increased growth.

IMO, the idea that you are going to get better coloration from feeding AAs to corals is a myth perpetuated by the marketers of these products. The only way you might see better coloration is the same as above, if the AA you feed is correcting a previously existing deficiency in the coral.

I dosed AcroPower daily for 4 months straight in my 465 gallon SPS tank and saw no change after I started, and no change after I stopped.

Personally, I would rather put the money I'd spend on AAs into high quality fish food and let the corals eat the high quality fish poop.

I haven't used any before. Was just curious what the consensus was as far as how often it is dosed before I bought some to experiment with.
