Aussie Strawberry Shortcake Acropora Colony

Ok so after a nice long dip, thorough inspection, and acclimation...I added my Shortcake colony to my shallow tank. Initially I freaked because when I looked down into the bag it was brown but it happened to be the underside of the coral

It was definitely stressed but didn't stress as bad as I thought it would. It's gorgeous! I didn't jump on the shortcake bandwagon earlier but I pulled the trigger and got this one. It's friggin awesome! Prettiest acro I have ever owned hands down. It definitely has a tabling formation and I hope it maintains this formation.

Here's some pics. Sorry for the quality. These corals are under Kessil 360WE so the LED light gives more of a blue picture color than it appears with the naked eye.

I just looked at it before the lights turned off. Looks great. It has full PE and this thing is hairy. Largest polyps I have ever seen on a SPS coral.

That looks great to me, SSC are indeed hairy lol. You'll probably see lots of mesenterial filaments extended when you feed the tank too.
Well done, awesome acro score mate.

Is it ok to refer to you as "Mr. Strawberry Shortcake" lol? I'm sure that is a title you've been striving for for a long time...

One thing I have experienced with Divers Den SPS is they arrive in great shape and I have never lost a single one. But in my tank they soon fade quite a bit until they become established, they recover over time and do beautifully. I dont think its the amount of light, I feel it might be that I run my tank at an ALK 8.0 and I have heard that Divers Den runs a high ALK at 10 or more. Not certain. Never kept me from ordering from them however. As a matter of fact I am waiting for a 10:30 delivery for two Divers Den/ORA frags today. :)

EDIT: I did try a maricultured monti frag from Live Aquaria once... covered in monti nudi's. I dont buy anything but aquacultured corals but had a weak moment trying to up my order for free shipping. Dumb move.

Nice. I believe there are a few different species that get labeled strawberry shortcake. The label apparently has more to do with color than actual species. The classic strawberry shortcake is a microclados which tables. There are also a few nausta that get this designation. These are the branchy ones.
