Hello

I just purchased the following colony from Divers Den

Aussie Strawberry Short Cake Acropora.jpg

This is my first Strawberry Shortcake Acro.

I was unaware that it is a tabling acropora. Is this correct?

I am thinking about fragging this beauty.

So you're the lucky guy that bought it. Great pick up. I wouldn't frag it yet, it's too beautiful. Let it get established first.

Yeah I hear you. Every time one of these pieces go up, its like impossible to win a piece like this. I am not full of $$$ so the price of this piece is ridiculous. I am gonna let it grow in my system for a bit and I might frag it in time.

It is gorgeous and is probably one of the most sought after pieces. I am a huge table acropora fan so this truly is a showpiece

Your question is it a tabling acro? Some are and I have seen some that are branching as well. It all depends and the luck of the draw. Again nice piece and I see them at the wholesaler and they are both. They also come in different color variations with a deeper purple blue base.

Good luck with it and don't frag it to sell but frag it and place it all over your tank.

Thanks for the advice. I have seen more of the branching strains myself. LiveAquaria has this listed as a tabling colony which would fit my system perfectly.

Hey how did that piece come in from the divers den iv been thinking of ordering some stuff from them just skeptical of the big commercial companies??

Honestly DFS divers den is about as good as it gets. I have never received a specimen that was not in tip top shape. They are an A+ retailer period

It will be fine DD is straight up. They are primarily a tabling coral but don't frag it. They are beautiful and very touchy. Many, myself included had beautiful colonies that do great for. Awhile and then poof gone. I believe they are ultra sensitive so be careful.

I agree. I have decided not to frag this colony. It's my first shortcake acro and I don't want to stress it. If all goes well and it does well in my tank, I may buy another colony in time just for fragging.
