Aussie Tusk Pics

So I ended up getting mine about two weeks ago. Gorgeous fish, looks just like the one in Sonicblast's pictures. The only thing with this guy is his vision seems to be a little impaired. He looks like it's about 70% - enough to navigate the tank and avoid objects and fish (for the most part) but he is unable to see food in the water column, so I have been hand feeding him. Anyone ever experience this? I have been soaking everything in Selcon hoping to correct it if possible.

Mine does that to some extent, wouldn't recognize food right in front of him but learned to pick it off the bottom. Sometimes strikes and misses food in the water column. Maybe they are farsighted?

Just put nori in the tank and the tusk ripped it off the side of the tank and carried the whole thing around the tank, clip and all. The powder blue wasn't pleased. Eventually the clip fell off and the tusk shredded all of the nori right in front of a powerhead, making a mess of the whole tank.

They can be pretty savage when they feel like it.

:lol::lol::lol:

I had a Tang do this with caulerpa once... it was terrible.. cause of course it stuck to everything and went wild... I never put macro on a clip in there again... ( Well, I never had to..)

Here's some Aussie Tusk nori action, among other things.

Nice tuskfish! It has some nice orange! He's a fatty:)

I wanted some orange in the tank, thought about getting a flame angel or something...but my tanks are really too sterile to keep angels alive.

I had to lol at this. So says the guy who now keeps seven different angels in three different systems.

It's all about the pellets.

Looks nice! I love those blue shell breaking teeth! I got one about 2 months ago for my reef tank and so far I'm still happy I got it. People always pick that fish out first when they come to my house. I seen mine at a LFS the day they got it in and I did some research and was willing to replace my CUC as time goes on. I was told it was an Aussie which I don't think but for $75 I couldn't go wrong after I seen him eat. Mine also likes to eat Nori off the clip.

I like this tusk, my favorite parts are the face stripes, half orange dorsal fin, and green marks on his back!

Sweet find, Sonic!

We joined the "HTF Club" this year too (we snagged that pretty little 1.5" juvie from DD)...you got a great deal, regardless of where the fish came from.

Keep the pix coming!

Did anyone keep the pic of the 10" brilliant red bruiser on Diver's Den recently?
