BFBA = Badly Faded But Alive. And props to GMFett, who supplied the majority of the frags pictured. You my man!!

GSMguy - I just received another ATI Blue Plus and a KZ Fiji Purple. For starters I'm going to remove a UVL Aquasun (which is a PAR monster and looks too pink for my eye) and replace it with the Fiji Purple (which is much less PAR), and I'll probably exchange one of the ATI Aquablues for a Blue Plus. This will give a slightly bluer color to the overall scheme and reduce PAR. If I don't like the look I can always change the lamp order around, or get some different spectrum lamps. Ahh, the beauty of T5's.

erics3000 and jnarowe - Thanks guys, much appreciated!

Things look like they are really doing well.

In the first shot, the water looks very still, but I can still see the overflow teeth. The return pump was on? The surface was ripple-free.

Sorry to hear about the ich situation. How long has that been going on?

I had all of the pumps off, including the wavebox, except for the Eheim 1262 return, so the water was fairly still during the photo shoot. I still have a microbubble problem since switching from the cottony filter socks to the nylon filter socks, and so the water isn't very clear for pics with the pumps on. I'll get a pic soon of the tank surface with all of the pumps on soon. I was able to redirect the outlets of the 4-way in such a way that water doesn't shoot out of the tank with the Barracuda on full blast. There's some nice flow in there now, for sure!

The PBT went into the tank on 12/7/07, and it had ich since around 12/10. It initially almost completely regressed but it returned when I went away for the holidays. It again receded but recurred with a vengeance a few days ago. Any suggestions?

tough for clowns to get it. they have such a thick slime coat. It has been my experience that feeding high quality frozen foods w/vitamins multiple times each day boosts the fish' immune system and helps it fight off Ich and recover.

Cleaner shrimp really help out too.

Marc - The only recent changes/stressors were that I began using ZEOvit additives, and I did a water change on Saturday. However, according to the article you linked ...

"Does stress cause "Ich"?

Stress and poor water conditions do not cause marine "Ich", although they will lower a fish's resistance to infection and impair their immune system. If C. irritans is not present in a tank, it doesn't matter what how stressed a fish may be, it cannot get infected. In a tank where parasites are present, stressed fish are more likely to show signs of "Ich" before more healthy fish, but the healthy fish are just as likely to become infected as the numbers of parasites increase. Those fish species that are less susceptible to "Ich" or those individuals that have an acquired immunity, may show no signs and may not get infected."

Also, according to that article, it's not unusual for the fish to clear the visible infection, but as the spores release new parasites, the fish can be re-infected. I plan on soaking the food in garlic and adding more nori to their diet. I'd like to avoid a hyposalinity treatment if at all possible.

jnarowe - Yes, I'll try to feed more often as well, although this will require the help of my wife. Thanks honey (my wife, not you Jonathan ;) )

bleedingthought - The 4-way is rocking along. I had to remove the drum and clean it off once more due to the waterhammer, but this corrected the problem immediately.

I couldn't catch my fish, so I used the method I recommended, and although I hate to perpetuate a myth, garlic did seem to help. Whether it actually boosts their immune system or just attracts them to eat because of the smell, I would do the same.

jnarowe - Thanks for the confirmation.

GSMguy - I got a perfect visual of those guys in jail, slicing up the garlic with the razor blade - nice! So do the tangs actually eat the garlic? I would think they would pick around it, and it would just fall out and onto the substrate. There I go assuming it would sink. That would be a good "Does it sink or float" for David Letterman :D .

they do eat most of it i fold the nori up tight like a small paper packet of Illegal substance ;) they have to tug hard and bite thru it, I have one Purple tang and one small rabbitfish.

it stays suspended in the wave. ive seen crabs eat it and my clowns too if its a small enough chunk.

even if they don't eat any(they do)when i fold it up tight the Garlic juice wets it down.

I had a couple of bananas that were quickly heading south on the counter today, so I took a bit and put it in my reef, tiny pieces at a time. All of my fish were so excited, and several ate it. The clowns took some in their mouth and ran to the anemone. My Naso ate it from my hand, the Purple Tang however waited for it to come down lower in the tank. The anthias, chromis and blue damsel all ate some.

They went "bananas" over the stuff.

GSMguy - I'm not sure what you mean about folding up the nori like a small packet - I'll google it ;) . That's good data about the garlic, I'll use that, thanks!

melev - Take that to all the naysayers! Are you going to start using banana regularly?

The last few pages have turned into the Food Network with Rachael Ray!!!

I think GSMguy is suggesting you make some crêpe with garlic wrapped inside!!!
