Auto Feeders...

I'm in the market for picking up an auto feeder. It's going on a tank that's feeding ONE 4" angelfish. I need to be able to adjust the amount so it's not shooting a TON of food into the tank at one time. I will be feeding NLS pellets out of the unit. Generally while hand feeding I'll give him a small pinch, and I'm looking to replicate that, not dump a tremendous amount in at one time, if that's even possible... is it? With what unit?

I'm looking to purchase one of these units from Premium Aquatics:

Eheim: http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merc...duct_Code=EH-AEH3581090&Category_Code=Feeders

Hydor: http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merc...&Product_Code=hy-m01100&Category_Code=Feeders

Current: http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merc...roduct_Code=CU-USA08024&Category_Code=Feeders

Let me know your thoughts/experiences with any of the above units, thanks!

I use the Eheim for 3 feedings each day. I load it with cyclops granuals and small NLS pellets. I have the sliding door just opened enough that the pellets fit through. It drops the right amount for me.

I use a feeding ring to keep the food from floating away and to allow a slower sink in one spot. If my angels are well manored that day they don't race to the ring and knock all the food out.

Austin, I've only used the Eheim and it's a great unit. It allows multiple feedings and is pretty easy to program. The only down side is that it can be just a bit tricky to fine tune the exact amount you need since the door opens/closes on these little notches. But I am sure it will do very well for that ONE 4" fish :)

Great, thanks for the replies guys!

I'm sure I'll find a way to decrease the amount it feeds if necessary. I just dont want to dump in a days worth of food every time it feeds!

Oh, and there's actually two fish, but the little sunburst anthias doesn't really go for the pellets, especially because the other fish really puts it in it's place during feeding time ;)

i also have the eheim. only trouble i have with it is that the pellets hit the water and never sink so the fish don't get most of it. It is as if it is just too close to the water or something. if i hold it higher above the water tha pellets sink just fine.

As much as I like, use, and recommend the eheim as well, something like this one might be better for what you are wanting:

That one looks very nice actually, thanks for the link! It does mention 1-4 feedings per day, and obviously I could set exactly how much goes in...

The Eheim says that it has an "Adjustable slider allows you to set a desired portion"... how adjustable is this? I mean, as your best guess, how many NLS pellets would it drop in at a time (the small pellets), too much for one fish? I like Eheim and would rather have that one, but only if it will suit my needs ;)
