Automatic Water Changes Draining Water

I am considering buying the Neptune DOS and doing automatic water changes. My idea would be to have a bucket filled with saltwater being added to the tank by one of the pump heads and then have the other pump head siphoning water out. The line being siphoned out would go under the sink of my bar which is right near the tank. My hope would be to tie it into the drain pipe under the sink. Does anyone see any issues with this? Any ideas on how to tie into the drain pipes under the sink?

I would tie it into the drain the same way you do a dishwasher.

You can get adapters to connect the 1/4" RO tubing if that is the size tube you will use.

If you are on a septic system it is not a good idea to drain saltwater to your septic tank. However if you are on sewer than it is an excellent idea. Just get and adapter like this or similar from the hardware store. The sell them for draining dishwashers and other things.

A drain line adapter would work fine, but seems like overkill for this application. A simple saddle valve like this one would be far simpler and work just fine for the flow rate you'd have. I use one for my RO/DI waste water and it works great.

+1 I've been using this in my AWC setup for over 3 years now and it is cheap and cheerful.
