Automatic Water Top Off

Hi all,

I'm new to all this. Just set up my 72g tank and realized topping off the water is tedious.

I want to set up an auto top off going into my sump.
However, the source RO/DI water would be coming from 1 floor below.

Does anyone know of any products out there I can use or how I can set it up?

Thanks,
Vin

I would just get a plastic trash can and keep it filled with RO (or what ever) water. Then get a pump that will pump up to that height and hook it up to a auto top off switch.

If you will be topping off directly from the RO/DI unit, it can discharge the product water to the uper floor with no problem.
Just be careful when designing the system so you do not end up flooding the sump. I would use a low voltage dual float switch system with a solenoid for on and off plus a float valve at the delivery point so if the float switches fail, the float valve will cut the delivery.

Same here I like my oceanus system i have my direct hook up to a very slow r/o d/i system even if i get a problem ( not yet ) it will take two days to flood my sump.

i'm upgrading to 75 too. I have heard nothing but good things about the Oceanus sysyems, so i think i will get the Proteus personally. i hear good things about the Tunze too, but i guess why spend the extra $$. I will just make my ro/di in the bathroom(wait till wifey finds out hehe) and keep a 30 gal resivoir inside a cabinet next to tank with a pump to get it to my sump. Hope this helps.
Here is a comparison chart so you can select the Oceanus that best suits your needs.

:D He is the guy who wrote the article you linked us to.

Actually, checking out the Oceanus systems, they seem pretty impressive.

If anyone has one, how is it hooked up in the sump. Does it use suction cups or another method?

I modified mine a little the bottom black plastic 1/4" thread screws are to keep it strait in my sump i had them and the holes was there , you can adjust the water level in your sump with the bracket it is adjustable. i just put the screws to keep it strait it works any way you hook it up the only thing is if you have Euro bracing in your sump you need to call them to see if they have bracket to fit your sump.
