Automatically Feeding Evansi Anthias

Hello!

I have a trio of Evansi Anthias which I purchased from the Live Aquaria diver's den. They're doing well - but I'm looking for a way to ensure their long term health. I'm currently feeding them cylops, rod's reef food, and frozen Hikari and PE mysis. They eat it all =)

Right now I'm manually feeding them several (4+) times a day - however, I do go to work during the day and so they go for 8 hours or so without food.

I've noticed that they love freeze dried cyclops, which I suppose could be auto fed using a feeder... and that brings up my question.

I need a feeder which can feed many times during the day - I'm looking at 5 or 6 small feedings over the 8 hours I'm away at work. So I need a feeder that's programable to feed small amounts of tiny food (cyclops, etc) several times.

The feeders I've looked at so far seem to only be able to feed 3, maybe 4 times during the day.

I have an aquacontroller that I could use to control a feeder, if it came to doing something like that.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to keep adding small amounts of food to my water column for my evansi anthias? I have a fuge that's reasonably productive, but I don't want to rely on that.

I could, but I'd really prefer to not have to use more than one unit.

In an age of easily programable digital timers, you'd think someone would make a unit that would be able to store tens of preset times to feed.

I'd suggest just going with one of the Eheim feeders, which are regarded by most as the best, and then feeding them manually when you're inclined or if you think they need more than 4 feedings a day.

You can't go wrong with the EHEIM 3581. You can program 4 feeding times. You can even program the times to feed double. I am only home every other week and this keeps my tank going fine with all the anthias I have.

I had been considering the EH3581 from marine depot. I'll place my order today. I suppose any feeding during the day is better than none :)

I was looking at a thread where someone had converted a mini fridge into a frozen food autofeeder. He was feeding his tanks about 6 cubes of mysis/etc over something like 50 feedings each day. Now that's a tank anthias would love.... if only I had a fish room to hide all this stuff in!

Eheim also makes a dual chamber autofeeder which can feed two different (or the same) foods up to 3 feedings per day for EACH chamber, thus providing six feedings. Works well for me although I only feed four times per day for each tank.

Sure. Here are a few. I recently lost one of my 4 to jumping - these anthias are the only fish I have that have jumped =\

It occurred to me that you might have been asking for the pellets. I don't have any photos of those =\

Here's what I use in my feeder though.
NLS Small Fish Sinking Pellet
NLS Macro Feeder Sinking Pellet
Freeze Dried Cyclops

I am going to have a hood made, yes. I need to get on that, and ensure that the dimensions inside are enough for my powermodule to fit inside with enough airflow out the "fan end" and in the top of the canopy so that it doesn't overheat.

How is the auto feeder doing? What kind of mounting methods does it support? How much clearance head room do you need? Pic of how you mount your auto feeder? :)

how is the auto feeding going? ,good i hope. if you need more feedings get a second feeder. i use the eheim and love it
