Avandss 265 Montreal Build

Nice trolling motor. Your fish in the QT is staring at me :)

:) Thanks!

btw your build is looking great and i cant wait for my next trip to alberta, 100% i will be checking out your build!

only thing i need to do as you mentioned is cover my electronics!

Congrats on the twins! ATS looks good. I guess I didn't notice that one slanted baffle that prevents water from leaking out. Interesting growth pattern though. I'm using less light on mine even though similar size. In my case twelve 2 watt diodes on each side. I do have blues, but not all the middle like your light. Will be interesting to see if subbing in more reds fills in the center.

since i removed the blue ones the middle is filling in nicely, i will wait 5 days and post a pic, i think it was the problem, you never know with chinese crap bin led's

quick update, in order to prevent cross contamination from qt tank to qt tank i have plumed them directly to a drain, the top tubing is for filling, i can fill the 20gallon in less then 2 min! and drain in less then 1

here is my coral/invert qt (72 day qt)

my tank does 2 automatic water changed per day, each wc is aprox 1.5 gallons for a total of 3 gallons a day

i have plumed my display tank drain to go into this qt tank, and as you can see i have a overflow inside the tank that is plumed to a drain

the "cool" design part is that i made one little hole on the drain pipe one inch lower then the other holes, this takes about 5min to drain, so when i fill the tank with freshly drained display water it fills up and gets mixed before it gets drained. idea is i did not want to fill and instantly drain the water, i wanted it to mix before

as for lighting i am running reefbreeders superlux, strong enough to keep my corals growing for the 72 days that i need it to be ich free!

Very nice! I wish I had your DIY skills! Have you thought about stocking a large angel or two? Dwarf angels? There are also some pretty hardy butterflys, such as: Chaetodon lunula, ephippium, pelewensis, melannotus, xanthurus. I also think a Magnificent Foxface would look good in your tank. I'm assuming this is going to be a FOWLR (no corals)?

Thanks humblefish, you really do know your species!

the tank will be a full blown reef (if the twins give me some time to do it) and my qt tanks dont kill me!

any recommendations for a reef tank?

Truly a first rate build all the way around, from in front to behind the scenes! Looking forward to seeing this beautiful system up and running!

Ahh, I would stick with more "reef safe" species then. The foxface is still a good choice. Maybe also add a harem of anthias. Lots of flasher/fairy wrasses to choose from as well. You will also want tangs, so you have some "big fish". I think Paracanthurus hepatus, Naso elegans, Zebrasoma desjardini, Acanthurus japonicus would all make excellent choices.

Thank you for the recommendations Humble, however i need to get a fish to survive my recent QT disasters! :)

just mixed my 2 part + mag

used 2 gallon bpa free jug's and i can easily fill a measuring cup for manual dosing
