Baby BTA

I've had a GBTA for about 3 months, it is about 5-6" across depending on how open it decides to be on a given day. This morning I awoke to find a 1" GBTA on the sand bad. The tentacles were open and it looked like a small version of it's mother. I came home to find it attached to a similarly sized turbo snail hitching it's way up the rock work. It has settled down into a small crack.

Most searches about BTA splitting show relatively equal sized splits. Is the small split just uncommon behavior or a sign of stress with the parent?

BTAs will occasionally reproduce by means of what is called "budding" where split off a smaller one like that. Congrats!

my bubble tip just split today. in the last week it started to inflate rather large during the days before it split into 2 this morning. pretty cool to watch.

The large BTA split last night into 2 roughly equal sized parts. Both are out and look pretty happy. The earlier small one is doing well even though the male clown has taken up residence.
