hey all long time reader first time posting...
3 months ago I got a baby gbta from lfs that had hardly any green but was real sticky. This not being my first nem but my first baby nem I took him home to watch him grow under 3watt bridgelux 60degree optic led's.
acclimated him to my 6yr old 55gal barebottom reef tank along with 2 wild baby perc clowns the same time. So far the clowns have no interest In hosting the nem since he's so small is my guess. I make my own rodi water and vacuum out 5gal every sat and clean all equipment/new floss, new carbon every 30days.
livestock that was in the tank when these 3 were added:
1 pep shrimp(which would eat out of my hand until the nem got sick and lost interest in our normal routine and focused on the injured nem.
1 demon eye zoa patch(growing like mad)
1 Fiji bright orange zoa patch(slow growing)
1 patch of some other zoas have not found name of yet(glowing like mad)
1 birds nest acapora(growing fast 1 branch to 6 branches in 4mo)
3 mushrooms(1 growing fast, 2 slow, but color increasing)
2 turbo snails
3 scarlet crabs
no fish
I was feeding him marine cusine every sat and his color has been increasing. His base was light brown when purchased and has changed to a deep purple and the tentacles green color has been increasing as well. However over the last week or so 25% of his tentacles have disappeared and getting worse. I first took out the pep shrimp and increased the nem feeding to 2x a week so far. He is still sticky and takes food fast.
Im feeling it was a combination of the one day a week feeding and the pep shrimp changing his diet on me which hit this nem. I never wanted to over feed but maybe once a week is not enough for a baby nem? Any angles I haven't thought of yet would be cool thanks...
