Baby Hippo Tang has white spot?

I recently, 2 weeks ago, got a hippo tang. Shortly after I got him, I noticed he had a white spot on 1 side of his tail. I've been keeping him in my QT tank for about 2 weeks. The spot is still there. Attached is a pic, its rather small. Is this ich?

Sorry for the quality, he loves hiding behind the heater so its hard to get a good pic.

it's hard to see the pic but if the spot is at the same place of the body for two weeks, then it's not ich imo. but i would personally do the TTM just to be on the safe side.

i'd keep my eyes on it for the remaining 2 weeks in qt.
i haven't had a fish with ick for a long long time but if i remember correctly it sure doesn't take long to gain the upper hand on the fish if left unchecked.

If you suspect Ick, feed feed and feed some more. Keeping the fish well fed has always made a huge difference for me.

Feeding will not help you with ich.

I agree. I run a 5.5, 10, 29, 40, 45, 55, and a 150. I have a hippo I bought at that size at a Petco for 30% off (got him with tax for $62.00). Anyways he had the white spots, but always ate.

So I've made sure to have a vast diversity of food, and I feed up to 10 times a day if I'm home. 2-3 times a day minimum. The feeding along with the garlic in some of the foods, has caused him to get rid of the white spots, he has a slight slight bit of scarring, but considering how he's almost doubled now in 4-5 months, I think he's doing great and as soon as he gets noticably larger then my CB dwarf angel, I'll put him in the 150g. Right now he's just a hair smaller then the coral beauty.

10 times is a lot damn lol. But yeah I've had tons of I'm before and decided not to panic and qt. A week or so of heavy feeding with the garlic and it was gone. Obviously still there but fish were able to fight it off.

that white spot is to big to be ich, hard to tell what it is without a better pic though. you will have to upgrade tanks in the future though so keep that in mind also.
