Baby Onyx clowns hatched tonight !!!!

they are still on rotifers but i will start to hatch fresh baby brine today and as soon as ready they will be intruduced along with a serving of rots just to keep the smaller one going over the next couple of days will try to phase out the rots and concintrate on brine and finnally on to crushed spectrum ...at that point they should really put on the punds ...lol

Too bad they are not ONYX.Dont get me wrong.They are beautiful fish.They are just not onyx.Let me know if I can help you in any way.We have 36 pairs here. Here is a pair of onyx.I am not trying to flame....there is a great deal of missinfo out there.Later.

well I would love to here what you take on a onyx is since you felt the need to post but with no clarification to back your claims I would find it most entertaining .....
 
Second most there are more han one onyx clowns as there are many morphs from different gene pools to pull from I personally cant stand rod onyx not to knock em i just think they look like a genetic deformation ...but once again tomato tomato

I Clarified it with your own words.I quoted the words from your post which came from SA.{Black color between all three stripes].Your fish are beautiful, but not onyx according to your own post.And yes I agree Rod fish are gitting a bit old and have begin to spawn more genetic problem fish.The gene pool that Rods fish came from is the best onyx out there.I have several WC onyx pairs,several SA onyx and several C-quest pairs.The C-quest pairs produce the nicest fish by far.Thanks to Bill Addison,over 23 generations makes for some nice fish.As for me, I did not mean to criticize your fish.They are beautiful.If they were mine I would try to raise every egg they gave me.You will see, in time, that there will be a few{maybe a lot if you are lucky} babies that go pure black in a few weeks.They will be black before they get there second stripe.Those are the fish you will sell for high $. Raising an Onyx is also an art form,you will see.Please dont do like some{one} and sell fish at 2 months and call them onyx no mater what there color.There are a lot of people that have payed top dollar for onyx only to find out they bought a true perc{Black vest,Orange pants}I did not mean to ruffle your feathers.There is a lot lost on the net.I spawn about 2000 percs{not O's} a month.Let me know if I can help you in any way.Mitch

I thought onyx clowns had to have a black dorsal fin.

The "Onyx" Percula strain developed by Bill Addison at C-Quest Marine begin as a random mutation from a couple of pairs of regular percula clown fish. It was line bred from there, for an unknown number of generations. Bill developed this strain for years and coined them Onyx. The first characteristic of the Onyx is that there black color begins early in life .Onyx also develop their stripes much more quickly than regular perculas.The "Onyx" Percula will typically have black dorsal fins. The final and most important defining characteristic is that the fish exhibit dark black between all three stripes encompassing nearly all the body.Rods Onyx and several thousand other C-Quest fish where sold to Inland Aquatics through out the mid 1990's. I believe the only true Onyx are those that descend from Bill Addisons tireless work.Thanks Bill
 
oh and by the way I think the one with the most black are the ugliest !!!! I like the way mine are Just a lil bit to accent the curtains !!!
 
Just one more thought How can mine have high dollar Onyx clowns if there not Onyx ?????? Point Match!! Now please go muck up someone elses thread with your BS ....BYE BYE Now !!
