These are H.reidi,42 days old. They are 3cm tall, about the size of H.zosterae which they resemble.
They are beginning to take adult bs.There are 235 of them, and I expect some logistic problems to house and feed all of them!:p

235? 235?
When are you going to stop goofing around and get serious, you're never gonna get far with an attitude like that. :D:D:D:D

All kidding aside, that's impressive. I trust there'll be documentation at some point?

Wow Luis, now I'm inspired by you to try H. reidi as well. The only thing that is bothering me is the feeding of the adults. I know seahorses are a pain in the *** to wean onto frozens. :D

Los caballitos son criados mejor por latinos ya veo

felicitaciones Luis

They are horses Kathy not cows...

LOL, finally, a joke I can appreciate!
So cows are somehow related to milk jugs?:o
Thank you all for the kind congrats:cool: I didn´t do anything special, other than using Ed black round tanks. It was just a blow of sheer good luck:)
Luck I did not find in past attempts.Baby reidi didn´t feed, and when they did, they got sick and died most of the times.

LOL,

felicitaciones Luis on bringing it back around to a joke Edgar can appreciate.
Congrats to you for appreciating Latin humor (slightly twisted and not funny for WASP standards):D

How much they sell for there Luis?
No way to tell. They were very cheap when they were imported from Brazil. Now that they are CITES app.II,captive raised fish can find a better price.

Luis, did they take rotifers as first food or straight to bbs? I have had newborn reidi go both ways but never had this kind of success, I'm very impressed

I´m impressed too!(with the ponies).I put rots, greenwater and even some (very few)pod nauplii along with bs the first day.But I believe they just took bbs,and not the rots.
Again,I guess I was lucky.reidi is considered hard to raise.Got the right conditions,or the right horses.

It has always been my belief that rotifers just don't move enough to elicit a feeding response in seahorses. The brine shrimp gets them excited but the rots just float by. Of the (few) people I know who have managed to raise reidi most say they did it with bbs.

Very impressive Luis, and a great photo,

please keep us updated, my few attempts with them years ago were very discouraging. I saw some captive bred at Tropicorium a few weeks ago happily eating frozen mysis. Things are looking up with them .

Update:
Ponies are now three months old,and growing steadily.Larger reached 5cm (2")tall,while the smaller (few)are 3.5cm.Now 8 of them are yellow,the rest remain black.Still a herd of 234.
They are now taking whole frozen mysis well, they consume a 1"square in few minutes. They still take bbs.I´m glad I have frozen mysis,as my adult bs culture is in bad shape.I couldn´t have raised them all without it!:)
