Lifes A Beach, your welcome too.

Big question. Now what do with all these white striped maroons ? Last night I had a big hatch of larvae. I made a new DIY larvae snagger to replace the smaller one I was using. The bigger one really work well. Forget about rotifer density ... I have larvae desity ! LOL

Congratulations on your success how many are you currently trying to take care of?

Geezs ... I lost two from my oldest clutch today. So I'm down to five. Several hundred in my newest batch of larvae.

I'm glad I could help too agsansoo. I'm glad to see your success finally. Way to keep at it.

The battle is not over yet ! I can't seem to control the ammonia level. I come home from work and the fry (oldest) are at the bottom on the tank. Barely moving. I start going a water change immediately. Dripping water from the main parent tank. They start to perk up, and start swimming fine.

Second problem, the largest of the fry is harassing the other 4 larvae in the tank. He's relentless ! He cases them across the tank. Fighting at Day 17 !

Are you running sponge filters? How long have you been? That behaviour sounds more like lack of oxygen to me. Can we get a picture of your filter setup again?

The remaining five are in this 5 gallon tank.

Could I be feeding too mush BBS ? I give them 1/2 teaspoon daily (decapsulated).

Are you feeding that much for a few fry? It may be too many and that may be fouling the tank. You can try Amquel to help with your ammonia problems.

Looks like enough bubbles to me. 1/2 teaspoon? You mean you hatch 1/2 a teaspoon a day? That would last me 3 days...

Yes, that much for four and half fry. I wanted the density to be good. A half because one didn't look so good this morning. I will probably down to four out of twelve that have survived this far. I did anothe water change this morning. About a gallon of water from my reef tank, plus I added .5 ml of Prime.

Yes . I wasn't sure just how much food they needed. I won't feed them for a few more days.

Don't stop feeding them but they don't need much. maybe 25 each. Don't keep the brine shrimp more than 2 days before you start a new batch. They get too big.

OK ... I gave them just a tiny bit tonight. I still have one that hasn't gone through meta. He's still silver with a big round belly. I this normal ?

Its pretty normal. I've had them a week behind the others before. You need to give them enough that they get full that's it. Keep up the good work :)

Ok. So I'm feeding less and now my ammonia is in the safe zone. I didn't even do a water change yesterday. Maybe the sponge filter is finally kicking in with good bacteria.

Egg clutch # 11 arrived yesterday while I was at work. Big group of eggs !

Fry batch # 10: Feeding rotifers and live phyto. Still too many alive to count, and this is day four. :)

Fry batch # 9 (20 days old) : Feeding BBS and a very little amount of GP 100-200 microns. One died yesterday and one more today, so I'm down to three from the twelve I started with. The largest is still chasing the other two. :( The one that died today had a round belly and was swimming around this morning. No idea what happen to him.

I just had a thought... You don't have a lift tube on your sponge filter. Without that tube the water won't get sucked through the sponge which will cut down on its ability to filter and break down the ammonia. Its the air travelling up the lift tube that sucks the water through the filter. Good progress so far agsansoo I'm glad for you.
