Update:
Fry hatched on Friday night. With larvae snagger in place all went as planned except one thing, hatch size was larger than normal. I couldn't get all the larvae into the container, there wasn't enough room. I need to make the snagger bigger !

Some Photos:

Rotifer density in culture, density is about half that in the larvae tank.

Larvae tank with blacked out sides. I've placed a night light just above the tank to the right, to provide a little light for their feedings.

Nothing like problems of success

It helps keep the larvae off the sides of the tank. They are attracted to the light so they will just face the sides of the tank and not eat when light comes in the sides.

Thanks for explaining it rkelman. It's seems to be maling a difference this time. I'm also feeding the fry dry food (50-100um) every 6 hours. These feeding are very very small amounts. Just a pinch, like you would get a pinch of salt while cooking.

Rotifer question:
I did a water change on one of my cultures last night. This morning I noticed it didn't clear as much as my other culture. It is also smelling a little. Could it be crashing ? I'm I harvesting too much per day (1/3 of the culture) ? Or did the water change kill off some of the rotifers ?

Thanks Joe. I'm very nervous today, it day 3 and I still have fry alive and swimming ! (crossing fingers) How soon before I need to start doing some water changes in the larvae tank ?

BBS on day 4? I don't know much about Maroons but I don't give BBS to my Occs until day 7 or so.. I know what you mean agsansoo. Sounds like your well on your way.. Keep up the good work.

Yeah ... I remember putting BBS in too early last year when I tried raising fry. The BBS took over the tank and the fry didn't eat them because they were too big. These maroons are small.
Tonight some have round bellies, some not so round. I'm feeding them some more rots right away. The rot density looks low and the water is clearing. I'm happy they're still alive at this point. Can't really count them, which is a good thing.

Your lucky that's all that happened. They can die from BBS to early...

Maybe that is my problem.

I don't feed my ocellaris bbs until day 6 or 7. I buy the small strain of bbs and those look big when you first introduce them to the fry. I continue to feed rots with the bbs as a gradual transition for the fry.

If it looks like they have a little something in their belly, that's a good sign.

I feed from day 7-9 somewhere in there depending on the development of the fry in that particular batch.

Update:

Larvae Tank:
It's day 4 and only a about a dozen have made it this far. The survivors are swimming a little better. Not darting so much, like after they first hatched. Not all the same size. Some are bigger with round bellies. They are growing though.

Display Tank:
Clutch #9 (4th this year) is here !

Do you think I should stop playing the Luther Vandross music now ? LOL

The not darting is a good thing. They are starting meta. Why not put a tile in there so you don't have to use a larvae collector?

Well woke up this morning ... All were dead. I had an ammonia spike last night. I tried to add more display tank water and Prime. Ammonia came down, but not enough I guess. The ammonia didn't effect the rotifers in the larvae tank, they're fine.

As to the parents laying on the tank bottom. I had no idea they would do that. I will be shopping Home Depot for some tile pieces this weekend. Any suggestions.

PS - Very frustrated .... ! :( I'm at a lost for answers !!!
